Question

So I'm halfway through Oathbringer and I'm loving it. But one of my favourite parts of catching up the Cosmere novels is that with each new series there was a new magic system. So what I'm asking is has Brandon said anything about a new Cosmere book on a different shard world or have people noticed any patterns for when he brought out other new Cosmere books. Really I just need my fix of new magic systems.

There will probably be more in the future. We have hints of other Shardworlds, and some things, such as Dark One or Aether of Night has been mentioned as things that might be Cosmere, and might be done in the future. In addition, we have a bunch of unknown Shards, and most Shards are creating magic systems.

Have you looked at Brandon's non-Cosmere books? Just because they aren't in the Cosmere doesn't meant that there isn't an internally consistent magic system to discover.

Brandon has mentioned several Cosmere projects that will eventually be written. Aether of Night is the one that we know the most about since he's released the unpublished draft that currently exists to fans who ask for it (now you can get it from this site) so even though the eventual rewrite will change things we have at least some idea what we can expect. There's also The Silence Divine where diseases give you magic as a side effect and The Dark One which we don't know anything definite about. We also know that whenever Dragonsteel is written, it will have new foms of magic; you can see glimpses of this in the sample chapters that Brandon recently shared with us, which were cannibalized for Stormlight Archive.

Beyond that, if there's a Shard directly involved with Siverlight it's possible we'll see a new magic system whenever the novella focusing on it gets published. We also know Brandon is going to write sequels to Elantris which means we'll learn more about the existing magic systems and he'll presumably include others as well as we see more parts of Sel, given how magic works on that planet. After that, your guess is as good as ours.

Case in point, Rithmatist. I read it recently and it was awesome.
