The Invested Beard Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 This is more of a silly thought exercise to see if anyone can come up with some ideas how it would be possible. Here it is: Roshar has a giant gemheart instead of a core. Ready, set...DEBATE! 2
KidWayne he/him Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Perhaps the "sleeping" sibling spren is contained inside and that is why he/she/it is said to be sleeping.
insert_anagram_here Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 (edited) So... maybe the Cultivation is trapped inside it? Edited November 28, 2017 by insert_anagram_here the original text was crazy talk
StormingTexan he/him Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Pretty sure it's turtles all the way down. 5

There may actually be something to this: Quote Firefight Atlanta signing (Jan. 24, 2015)#12 Share ccstat Are gems in those mined or exclusively from gemhearts? Brandon Sanderson Some are mined. Mining is not easy on Roshar. Sources: ccstat's report - 17th Shard Seeing as there are indeed mine-able gems, it seems plausible that the planet itself has a giant Gemheart. What's a Seawolf? Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 You know, if the strata in the walls referenced oh so many times IS actually Stormlight or some other power source, there may be something to this. 1

Noblehunter Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Could Urithiru have been made uninhabitable due to an earthquake severing it's connection to the core gemheart and that's why so little works? 1
insert_anagram_here Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Yeah, I've gone on my own tangent above, I'll just make another theory post.

I doubt it for two seperate reasons: 1. Roshar has no plate tectonics. 2. Brandon has already done something similar in Elantris.
Noblehunter Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 1. No plate tectonics? That's weird. It seems like the sort of thing that would have significant implications. Quick, someone cast "Summon Geologist" 2. I see that as an argument for it. He's introduced the concept of geography affecting magical constructs. That means the idea is available to create a different problem.
