From where are we seeing the Arcanum Unbounded constellations?

I Am Witless

Question

Forgive me if someone has already asked this, but a quick search didn't bring it up, so I though I would ask it. From what planet are we viewing the cosmere on the inside cover of Arcanum Unbounded? We can see the worlds of Threnody, Taldain, Scadrial, Roshal, Sel, Nalthis, First of the Sun, and even The Scar, but whose planet are we seeing these from? I was showing my friend the map, and she dropped the question, and it blew my mind. Is there another post I can refer to?

Thanks!

The map is a physical picture hanging in Silverlight. Here's Brandon's word on it

Quote

Q: But who’s looking at these constellations?
A: So it is from a specific perspective, that Isaac will someday reveal. He drew this at my request; this is from a frame of reference. But we haven’t told you what it is. The best guess is that it’s Silverlight. I haven’t confirmed it, but it is the best guess. The second best guess is Yolen. There are a couple things that people have guessed, but I haven’t confirmed which it is.

This...feels like a dumb question. But isn't Silverlight a city in the Cognitive Realm? How can you see a 3D view of the sky in a 2D realm? Or am I missing something?

The city itself is in the Cognitive Realm.

Without knowing where it is, we have no idea what, if anything, is there in the physical.

It my be impossible to stand there in deep space and see the that picture. We just don't know yet.

I assumed that it was probably silverlight and not yolen for two reasons. The first being that silverlight is definitely the kind of organization to be gathering lots and lots of data. Like a star chart as viewed from a physical manifestation of a fortress or something weird since geography gets weird when you mix the cognitive realm and open space. It could be just a short walk from their cognitive city but it takes them lightyears away in the physical realm to get this kind of perspective.

My other reason for believing it to be silverlight is that i still am guessing that yolen is/was in the scar. I believe we know there was a cataclysmic event that took place there, and the constellation on the star chart is a serpent/dragon. All that to say, i think silverlight is the correct answer!

It's probably a given, but this star field is not as seen from Earth.  I stripped out everything but the stars and ran it through some astronomy software that tries to match it against our night sky.  Failed.  Figured it was worth a shot though, in case I got a hit.  Though even if I had managed a hit, I would have been skeptical.

Do you have a stripped version with the colors of the stars still intact?  If yes, may I have a copy?

Solid commitment, haha. Would have be awesome if you actually got a hit on something.

Maybe the reason Brandon hasn't confirmed it in Silverlight but called it the best guess is because of the questions any brought up. We'll probably get the answer in the maybe-future Silverlight novella.

Oh sorry no I stripped the colors too, because it was easier, and the colors wouldn't mean anything in the astronomy software that I used.  Hmmm, lemme try something....
