OneNastyChull
Hi so I started reading Eye of the World when I was 8 years old(I'm 26 years old now). It's kind of a rite of passage in my family. My older brother had the Mistborn books for a while but the first BS book I read was Elantris and I instantly wanted more. Reading Brandon changed my literary life in a way I'm sure most of you here can relate to. So when Robert Jordan died and Brandon took up his mantle I literally cried both from sadness at losing someone I thought of as an uncle and of selfish relief that my favorite author was finishing a story that had to be finished. He. Did. Not. Disappoint. Reading the last battle through Brandon's eyes and Roberts voice (with the help of Harriet of course) sometimes felt as if it was meant to be. That only Brandon could of truly finished those books and not even Robert was able to finish and slay the beast that he created. I will never forget closing that book. Every year I have looked forward to what next this almost inhuman figure would put out knowing that I would never be disappointed. I have since spread Brandon as far as I could but I need more. I need others that can't live a day without thinking about the cosmere. I need my theories questioned, broken, and a few times I hope that I'm able to add something that proves to be right. But if I'm wrong all the better! I'd rather be surprised. So to whomever may be reading this, no matter where you are, let's find this universe's secrets.....or be gloriously wrong. Either way we win.

OneNastyChull
Favorite Sanderson Book . . . Oh man that's a tough one. Probably The Emperors Soul. Im making my may through a lot of the content on this site trying to see which of my ideas have already been hashed out and reading a lot of the Brandon Q&As. I can't wait till he come to Austin for a signing. And I've mastered those cookies allure long ago, they hold no more sway on me, and I see through their evil charm. I have attained one-ness through one very basic realization. I am a stick.

OneNastyChull
"My island! It's mine." Lmao I've felt that way as long as I can remember about Brandon's book. Always felt like he wrote them specifically for me to enjoy when really I just think nothing better has existed before. I consider him the literary grandson of Tolkien (Jordan being his father). He's not the only recent author I am a fan of. John Scalzi and Brent Weeks rustle my jimmies as well. If you are past age 17 then I really recommend giving Old Mans War by Scalzi a read.
Megasif
@OneNastyChull Welcome! I love Brent weeks' books as well. Way of shadows was actually my first adult fantasy I believe. Followed quickly by Elantris and Joe Abercrombie's The Blade itself. Stormlight is my current favourite.
OneNastyChull
Hey thanks for welcoming me Mwgasif! (And anyone else I didn't directly say thanks for welcoming me, excuse the inconsideration please) My first adult fantasy was Armor by John Steakley (rip) but I've never picked up anything by Joe Abercrombie. Too much class work to allow myself to start another author in the past 5 years (picking up Red Rising almost made me fail biochem).
Megasif
Yh I totally get starting an interesting book at the wrong time. Nearly cost me a Geology report once.
