Okay, the grammar is awful. It ought to be Crisis IN infinite Cosmeres, but I wanted to keep the reference to Crisis on Infinite Earths as close as possible.

Of course, none if this would be an issue if Brandon hadn't recently released an anthology whose abbreviation is the acronym for Alternative Universe. :P

Anyhow.

Alternative Universes can be one of my favorite tropes in fan fiction. I always find 'What If', Elseworld and speculative histories fun. So...

This struck me as an interesting or fun thread idea. What kind of Cosmere alternate universes would you like to see, or how do you imagine certain events would play out if one or two factors were different?

If Hoid had picked up a Shard.

What if it was Cultivation, not Ruin who ended up with Preservation on Scadrial? How would their conflict play out, if there would even be one in the first place? Would there still be Three Metallic Arts?

What if the Shards had never created new planets, but all just stayed on Yolen? Or if there were ways to go from one planet to the next instantly, and everyone could do it? Basically, how would the Cosmere develop if the societies interacted with each other from the start?

What would things have been like if all the shardworlds were all fully Cosmere-aware, meaning every person on the planet knew their entire lives there were other planets and about Adonalsium etc? Or even just one planet?
Or what if no-one could worldhop using the cognitive realm and perpendicularities? That would mean that there may still be a certain amount of travel between the shardworlds, especially with certain types of magics and when people develop space-travel technology similar to our own, however it certainly wouldn't be as common, and there probably wouldn't be a Silverlight, or at least it wouldn't be as big.

After reading Secret History, I could easily have seen a scenario where the villains were reversed, and Ruin even mentiones it. What is preservation was the bad guy. He wanted to preserve everything the way it was. No death sounds good and all but there would be no growth. No new life. No change... What if he wanted to preserve us all as we were in a little bubble where time didn't exist and nothing ever happened. Ruin was trying to stop that because he's right. Death and destruction are natural things in order for us to grow, old cells die and new take their place. Old ideas change or die as new thoughts take their place. Ruin wasn't trying to end the world, he merely wanted us to be able to grow and follow the natural course of life.
