Brightshade the Cunning Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 My friend and I fell that there should be a better term for travel between shardworlds than "worldhopping". Do you? 2

3 Argent he/him Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 The thing is, there are different ways to worldhop. So it's like trying to come with a better word for "traveling" - there isn't one. There are synonyms, and there are types of traveling, but there is no official word for it (other than itself). Same with worldhopping - there are synonyms you can use (e.g. moving between worlds), and there are types of worldhopping (e.g. Elsecalling, Shardpool skinny dipping, etc), but there isn't necessarily a better word for the collective process. 8

0 Eki Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I don't see any reason to change it... It sounds ok, describes what the process is, and (I think) is the "official" word Brandon uses as well. 1

Upvoted just for Shardpool skinny dipping. I don't see any reason to change the term for world-hopping either, but at the same time, it would be nice to have some clarifying terms that could be used for the methods. At this point, though, we don't know enough about any methods other than using the pools or Elsecalling, so that's probably impossible to do.

Pools of the liquid form of gods, of the powers that created the universe... and all we can think to do is Skinny Dip... XD 2

XD In all fairness, that's just the first thing we think of. My next thought was to drink it. I wonder what effect that would have. Given that Ruin's pool let you see the future, and Preservation's turned you into an Allomancer, would Honor's allow you to Surgebind? Would drinking from Devotion's well turn you into an Elantran? Could the water be carried and used for a temporary aon boost far from Elantris? And what would Endowment's do? 1

Edit: @Brgst13 Quote Could the water be carried and used for a temporary aon boost far from Elantris? No I don't think so, Having (a huge amount of) paper cards with Aon Rao's attached could help perhaps, especially off-world Edited October 26, 2016 by Secrets
