Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Argent put up links to some of the WoR Interior Art on a thread this morning and I couldn't wait to make a tracing of the Bridge Four Tattoo featured on one of the pages. For all that want it, here it is. Clicking on the picture downloads the larger png and the hyperlink is for an svg file. Bridge Four Tattoos: 5
Tamzin Ashevai she/her Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 All of these are amazing! (I'm so un-skilled in Photoshop and completely clueless in Gimp, not to mention any other cgi programs.). I would expand my sig if I could. Can I? I think I've already reached my parameter limit.
Tamzin Ashevai she/her Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Has anyone considered glyphs as tattoos? I would totally do this! Query: nahn for Jasnah? I want something veristitalian.
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Tracings of the Headings for the pre-released WoR chapters and interludes are finished. As always, the pictures are png's and the hyperlink are the svg vector. Shallan Flashbacks: Shallan Chapters: Adolin Chapters: Eshonai Interludes: Edited March 23, 2014 by Awesomeness Summoned 5
Elbereth she/her Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Very nice. Shallan's is my favorite, just because it's so abstract. Great work!
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, I'll probably go back to my tried and true edgedancer icon eventually but think I'll stick with this one until a little while after the release in honor of it being her book. I love how the inverted colors turned out. It was a good suggestion by Ozyara.
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Last two chapter headings. I will upload them to the wiki in a minute, Ozyara, so everything is ready to go for the WoR summaries. Lift Chapters: Taln Chapters: Edited March 22, 2014 by Awesomeness Summoned 4
Argent he/him Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Has anyone tried to interpret those fighting glyphs, by the way? I thought maybe they are how the Alethi men write the names of the different sword stances, but since I had to go back into the books and search for descriptions to match against the drawings, and I was not yet done with Words of Radiance, I thought I'd investigate later...
Lady Radagu she/her Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Thank you for the lovely avatar! You do beautiful work!
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) I've already posted these in other threads to get opinions on meaning/names for them but I'll go ahead and put them in here as well since this is kind of my official graphic design thread for cosmere related material. As always, clicking the picture links to the high quality png file and the hyperlink connects to an svg vector file. One of the art pages in WoR had some fighting moves with Alethi glyphs describing the actions. For reference, here is the art page: I don't know what they all mean, but here they are: We have also been long overdue for high quality renditions of the Herald symbols so I traced the images of them that were imprinted on the introductory pages for each Part in tWoK and WoR. Betab Chach Jez Kak Nan Shash Edited March 22, 2014 by Awesomeness Summoned 8
Claincy he/him Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) For anyone who doesn't know if you look under the dustcover on WoR you will see the Shash glyph. I think that TWoK had Jez there. I don't have the hardcover so I'm not 100% certain. WoR spoiler: A question I would like to ask Brandon is if the sword glyph that appeared behind Kaladin when he landed after saving Dalinar/right before attacking Szeth was the Jez symbol here. The expanding ring of smoky light faded, save for a large glyph-a swordlike shape-which remained for a brief moment before puffing away. The end of chapter 85 WoR I'm pretty sure that I imagined roughly that glyph from my memory of it when I first read it. I strongly suspect that it is that glyph. Edit: I forgot to say: Nice work as always Wes Edited March 22, 2014 by lord Claincy Ffnord
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 That's exactly what I pictured when I read that scene as well @ffnord
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 I saw Chaos' tweet about the best article on the coppermind and I have to agree. I laughed for a quite a while after reading it and had to make quick pic in honor of it. 4
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Alright... last submissions for the day. I've been sick and being artistic keeps my mind off the fact I feel like crap which accounts for my high productivity today in the design department. I've loved my Pattern icon since making it so decided to go ahead and make all the various designs depicted in the book art where Shallan sketches him: And the inverted colors: Reading that art page, I got the idea to have the patterns shift into each other like she describes so I made two quick gifs: If only I could set a gif to my icon. On another note, I realized while working on these that there isn't a coppermind page for Pattern yet. We have a page for the stick but not the lovable Pattern? 8
Claincy he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 The gifs are truly excellent Coming to expect that from you now : P
Turos Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 You are really skilled at making this kind of stuff!
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Well... I can't take too much credit. I'm just modifying the extraordinary work of Isaac and Ben. Might I ask what the origin of the rocket boat is? Is that actually from a FF game? I only played some of the latter games starting with VII.
Turos Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Lol! 8-BIT Theater at nuklearpower.com It's a hilarious webcomic that spanned ten years of production. It's a spoof of FFI.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hey. I just noticed on the Dustbringer glyphs you have them labeled ad Releasers.
