Pinpoint he/him Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I noticed that there is no C, W, or X in the alphabet. To my remembrance there are no names in WoK that have any of these three letters except for one. Wit. I thought that although this is incredibly obvious it is also pretty cool since Wit is not Rosharan. Any thoughts? 2

I would suspect that where most names are being represented in English with the letters that come closest to the pronunciation where Wit is a concept or title more than a name. Thus rather then giving us the rosharian word that means Wit we just get the concept in English. 2
Alayala_Radiant she/her Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Cenn, the boy that reminded Kaladin of Tien has "c". But the other letters I don't recall seeing. 1
Shardbearer he/him Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 But the C in Cenn makes the almost "s" sound, right? So does that count as a hard c?
Shardlet he/him Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 While it is not an Alethi city, Sesemalex Dar is spoken of by the Alethi. Though, it likely could be written with the corresponding 'K' and 'S' characters.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 They use a U for the W sound. And C is generally from the translation into English. 2
DocHoliday he/him Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 In the phonetic alphabet, c, w, and x are removed from the alphabet because they are a reproduction of the sounds other letters already make. C is related by k and s. W by y or u. And x by z or an e-h-k-s sound.
