Why is Adolin allowed to have help? (WoR)

In the "full disadvantage" duel, why are Kaladin and Renarin allowed to jump into the arena? This has always bothered and confused me.

It seems like the dueling rules are fairly formalized. And Adolin apparently agreed to battle any number of opponents. So why does the judge say nothing when Renarin and Kaladin jump into the arena. Seems to me like this would disqualify Adolin's victory...

Apparently in those cases it's possible to ask help until the disadvantage remain.

Probably those "helper" can't start in the arena and of course in a 4VS1 probably a lesser Duelist would fall before the help arrive...Much more, also if Adolin had help if He was defeated the fight will be over (Renarin and kaladin's status aren't relevant to the match's outcome).

Maybe there is also the need of a formal request of help to the judge to made the helper join the fight.

Actually, what adolin agreed to was a duel in which he was at a numerical disadvantage. This meant that he could receive help, as long as he remained outnumbered.

That always bothered me a bit too, but the numerical disadvantage makes sense. He probably has to still be in the fight at the end as well as @Yata mentions.

Food for thoughts... Has anyone else ever wondered what it means for Kaladin/Renarin to have been unknown Radiants at the time of the duel? Adolin was to be at a disadvantage, but he wasn't, not truly. Both Kaladin and Renarin were Radiants and while Renarin's contribution was slim, Kaladin only managed to help Adolin because of stormlight.

One could argue he wasn't at a full disadvantage and if I were Jakamav and Ruthar, upon finding out Kaladin is knight possessing magic, I would demand a re-match. I would claim the duel is void because the rules were broken, but since they didn't know about it at the time, then a re-match would have to be performed.

The rules may not cover it. Also, Kaladin did not have shardplate or a shardblade. Those might be considered enough to offset the stormlight advantage. Skill does not appear to be a factor in determining advantage/disadvantage. If skill is a factor, then it would presumably be based on past duels, so Kaladin and Renarin would count as beginners.

However, there's one simple reason it will not be challenged  -- everyone knows that the end game was to challenge Sadeas to a duel to the death. Before most thought the risks were to the shardblades, etc. but now they understand what the real risks are, and those are way too high for anyone to bite..  

As a side note, I wonder if this could play into what could happen to Adolin for murdering Sadeas, since he was supposed to duel him in a year (minus the time after the duel)....

I had wondered about that too... Will Ialai enforce the duel by choosing a champion to stand in place of her dead husband? Adolin is currently injured, now would be the perfect time to challenge him.

Adolin is currently injured...It was a very shame if he has not a brother who may develop Progression Surge (and the duel is setted quite far in time as far as I remember)

The duel has been fixed at the same date in a year's time. I do not know the rules, but I had wondered if it could be forced being held faster, shall "Sadeas" insist. Anyway, I was kinda of hoping Adolin would duel again, so I keep on thinking of ways to thrust him into the arena again. 

Will Renarin heal Adolin's wrist and mixed assortment of bruises? It is yet to be seen, he may not know how to do that just yet and even if he did, Renarin is not exactly the most pro-active individual we have met. I have always thought he'd figure out how to heal during a more drastic situation than seeing his brother wince each time he needs to move. 

For my part, I had somehow thought it may be Adolin has hidden the fact his wrist is actually broken, saying it is merely bruised (it would be in character for him to hide the gravity of his own injuries to avoid having others worry about him: he worries about others, not the other way around). I had also thought it may be he'll find a way to use to use Navani's pain removal fabrial. I mean, there has to be a reason why Brandon showed us this scene with Adolin as the guinea pig.

I would guess both parties would have to agree to a date change. As an interesting side note, I wonder if Adolin or Sadeas could formally duel anyone else until that duel is held.
