Arcoss Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 (edited) The other god metals are named after the shardholder, not the shard so... Edited June 2, 2016 by Arcoss
Eki Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Yeah. Apparently Sazed thought Harmonium sounded better. I think he's just being shy though. I prefer Sazedium, myself.
Unodus he/him Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Have we seen Harmonium in context though? I was under the impression that was just a technical term we came up with ourselves.

[17th Shard's report] Questioner For the space Mistborn are we going to have more elements? Brandon Sanderson The base 16 are basically it. But the interactions between them and things. And there is one more metal, there is harmonium, so you will hear about that later on. [Reddit - Jul 5-7, 2015] youshallannotpass Will there be a metal called harmonium in the Mistborn world? Brandon Sanderson RAFO. But good question. WeiryWriter Just an fyi but you have confirmed the existence of harmonium before. (And this is probably a RAFO, but is there a reason you didn't follow the convention of the other "god metals" and call it something like "sazedium"? "Harmonium" just seems out of place.) Brandon Sanderson Sazed didn't like the sound of Sazedium. To be honest I'm definitely in the "Sazed is wrong, sazedium is an awesome name" camp, because harmonium is a musical instrument not a god metal. 2

Weiry, I may need to steal "because harmonium is a musical instrument not a god metal." at some point, any objections? That might be my new favorite Shard quote of all time.
Argent he/him Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Have we seen Harmonium in context though? I was under the impression that was just a technical term we came up with ourselves. It's mentioned once or twice in the Era 1.5 - I think some scientists were searching for it in one of the broadsheets?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 It's mentioned once or twice in the Era 1.5 - I think some scientists were searching for it in one of the broadsheets? If I remember correctly there is a short feature on the Bands broadsheet that asks whether Harmony has a metal but it is not named therein. Also I will point out that Brandon has backed off on the Era 1.5 thing and the Wax & Wayne era is officially Era 2 (and is referred to as such in the postscript of Secret History).

Last I heard he went from 1.5 to 2, and then back to 1.5 (most recently). This, if I recall it correctly, is about as recent as Secret History.

This, if I recall it correctly, is about as recent as Secret History. The reverse actually, it started as Era 2, then he tried to change it to Era 1.5, and then went back to Era 2. Question So I know that basically Wax and Wayne are basically 1.5, has it turned into 2? Brandon Sanderson I wish I had called it 1.5. We just have to call it Era 2 now for consistently and clarity sake. If I’d called it 1.5 from the beginning I would have liked that to prevent slips of the tongue myself. If I called the other one Era 2 (meaning 3), I’ve thought of it like that so long it happens. Now we just have to live with it. (source)
Massik he/him Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Saze is much too bumble to allow it to be named after him, I think.

(source) I was actually thinking of this: [01:33:17] zas’ sister: So it said in the book that if Marasi and Wayne had it on at the same time-- Would it cancel it out all the way, or would it just cancel out where both of the bubbles were? Brandon: Where both of the bubbles were. zas’ sister: So it would be like-- Brandon: You could make a bubble in a bubble, yes. Third book of, which I think I’m officially changing to Era 1.5 to be less confusing, will have a moment where they try to do a time bubble in motion. zas: [bubble in a bubble] Brandon: Not that one, the motion one, so you’ll finally get some views on what’s going on. You get some rules on that.
WeiryWriter he/him Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I was actually thinking of this: That was the first mention of Era 1.5 (if I remember correctly) but that is from over a month before Secret History.
