Steelborn he/him Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I was thinking about how Hoid can't harm anyone in the physical realm and thought, what if he has a little bit of Preservation's power? What do you guys think?
Vissy Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) It's a clever idea, but one that is most likely impossible. Read "Mistborn: Secret History" to find out why. (In case you have, here's why, contains spoilers:) Hoid stated that he cannot harm people in the physical realm before ever stealing a piece of lerasium from the Well of Ascension. This piece of lerasium is the only power-related connection we know he has to Preservation. Edited May 3, 2016 by Varangian 2
Svordish Scientist he/him Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Can Hoid not harm people physically of dose he just not like to.
Jondesu he/him Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Can Hoid not harm people physically of dose he just not like to.He says he's "terribly ineffective" I believe, to someone. It's something along those lines, and along with his reaction to (SH Spoilers) Kelsier, who isn't truly alive and who Hoid is able to beat up quite effectively and gleefully it seems clear he probably can't hurt living people at all. jW Edited May 3, 2016 by Jondesu
ZenBossanova Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) I wonder if things will change (ie. his ability to hurt others), if Hoid gets some of Odium's investiture. He certainly didn't hold back on Kelsier in M:SH. Edited May 4, 2016 by ZenBossanova
Nashan’Elin he/him Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I wonder if things will change (ie. his ability to hurt others), if Hoid gets some of Odium's investiture. He certainly didn't hold back on Kelsier in M:SH. That's probably because Kell was technically a Cognitive Shadow, not really alive.
echaozh he/him Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 That's probably because Kell was technically a Cognitive Shadow, not really alive. No. Hoid could beat up Kelsier because Kelsier could not be injured in the CR. Kelsier considered himself injured, but that's just his own imagination. When he attacked Hoid, Hoid was not affected at all, even though he was definitely alive. 1
AerionBFII he/him Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I think i prefer Hoid just doesn't like hurting people, rather than he's magically restrained from doing so. In regards to Kelsier, he did actively dislike him so maybe that played a part in it.. That was the highlight of the book for me btw
