Yeah, I'll vote for Strawman.

This game is difficult to understand and I am new. I just wanted to hear peoples opinions first few cycles. I am reporting to companion every cycle.

 

Okay. Since you're new, it's understandable for it to take you a while to figure out what to do. I'm sorry if it feels like I'm harassing you. It's just that with about half the players barely saying anything, it gets hard to form any opinions. There's been a problem with inactivity in some games, and I don't want this one to get to the point where none of the remaining living innocents say anything. If you are talking to the Companion every cycle, then you are probably doing fine for now.

 

I do suggest you try to make a game-centered post before too long. Doing that will give you more helpful experience than just listening to others, especially when there's not a lot being said. I'd say it might help to do one of these things:

 

1) Pick someone who has posted a few times. Read each of their posts. Consider whether is sounds more like they are trying to help find the eliminators or whether they are trying to make us fail while pretending to help. Post whether you think they are suspicious and why. If you think they are suspicious, add a vote.

 

2) Pick a topic that has been discussed (such as using Pewter or tapping Iron or lynching a particular person). Read others' arguments on that topic. Decide which you agree with more. Post what you think about the topic and your reasoning.

 

If you do things like these, you might be able to get into the game more easily and you will form connections with other players that make it easier for others to read you.

Everyone, I request you tell me your most probable second cycle actions. I.E. tell me what you plan to store/tap this cycle and on whom you plan to take an action, if applicable.

And, don't forget to put in your actions!

Also, eliminators, now would be a good time to reveal yourselves. It would be geatly appreciated.

Cycle 3: Food, Glorious Food

Zinjuli stumbled into camp that night, nearly delirious from walking so much more than he was used to. “I’m here!” he gasped. “Here, here, I didn’t leave, I didn’t run off, I’m here...”

Tindomë rose to her feet just in time to catch him as he fell. She lowered him gently to the ground, checking his health.

“He’ll be alright,” she pronounced finally. “Weak, probably, for a while. Here, Clanky, you look after him. You can recover together.”

Clanky glared at her, but she didn’t back down. If he decided to do something stupid, he had to deal with the consequences. In this case, babysitting.



The campfire that night was quiet. Everyone was quieted by the prospect of traitors. Many of them had known Asmode for years, and now she was dead. Not of an avalanche, or starving to death in the snow, as they’d all imagined their deaths. No, she’d died to a knife in the back. One of their own.

Kholwa shivered, then sneezed. He glared at the mushroom sitting next to him. “Oy, quite spreading your polleny stuff, will you? I think I’m allergic.”

The mushrom just continued staring at the fire.

“What if it’s poison?” said a voice. No one could quite tell who it was. “What if the mushroom is slowly poisoning us with its spores?”

Everyone stared at the germinating mushroom. The idea probably wasn’t true... But what if it was? What if the fungus was slwoly and inexorably killing them? What if it was poisonous?

“Look at him, he’s not even denying it.”
“He is poisoning us!”
“He’s trying to weaken us slowly, until Alendi’s all on his own.”
“Well, we won’t stand for that, will we?”
“That’s not right.”
“He’s trying to kill us!”

Everyone started for the mushroom at once, pushing him violently into the fire.

He exploded in a last puff of spores, burning brightly and with a weird greenish fire.

Everyone scrambled back, away from the campfire, many coughing from the thick smoke.

After several minutes, the smoke dissipated, and those who hadn’t just given up and gone to bed came back to the campfire. All that was left of the mushroom was a black husk and the lingering scent of cooked mushroom.



Misan was woken early in the morning, long before even the predawn light would appear. But he wasn’t woken by a noise.

He woke to a scent.

He lay in his sleeping roll, unmoving, trying to figure out why in the Hero’s name he was smelling freshly cooked chicken. On a guiding trip. What?

His mouth opened involuntarily, and he inhaled on reflex. And then he truly smelled it, closing his eyes to enjoy the smell all the better. Chicken, yes. But more than that. The same juicy, golden smell, but there were other things, too, mixed in. Memories of warm summer nights with friends and family, of nourishment at the end of a bloody day of battle, of hunger and relief, and hunger again.

The memories absorbed him until he took another breath. Then they faded, and were replaced by something more fundamental.

Hunger. Overpowering, insatiable, ravenous hunger. Yet at the same time, it was paralyzing. He craved to tear the chicken to pieces, to eat it in a single gulp... Or perhaps slowly and painstakingly, savoring every mouthful. But he couldn’t move a muscle!

He salivated. Maybe he drooled. He wasn’t sure, and didn’t really care.  The hunger was overpowering now, removing his ability to think coherently.

He inhaled again, wishing for just one taste of that glorious smell. And there it was: A single, sizzling droplet, landing squarely on the tip of his tongue and blossoming outward. The taste overwhelmed him completely, and in that moment he didn’t care about anything else in the world. Not the cold, not the hunger, nothing.

Not even the blade ever so gently slitting his throat.
He smiled as he died, wholly satisfied in the knowledge that nothing else could ever be as wonderful again.

hm. That's interesting. I would have thought that Mark IV would have been targeted by the eliminators, being the other companion and all. I guess they found Maill to be more of a threat? Or something?

Mailliw is excellent at gathering information, so it may be that they decided to kill him over Mark for that. I don't know though, I usually don't read a lot into early kills like these, and in Mail's case, it's not out of the ordinary.

I'm at work right now, but I managed to read through the majority of the game, so I have a better idea of what's going on.

Deathclutch, I'm assuming you and Mailliw had a PM, being the budddies you are. Did he indicate anything that might have lead to his death? if not, then I'd assume he was killed for being Mailliw.

Also, remember to Tap Brass today people. I don't want half of us freezing to death.

One main thing about me for thos who don't know is that im generally quiet in thread, but rather active in pms. and if im active in pms, the inactivity filter cant touch me I checked.
