Shard Movement

I've been reading stuff here and on coppermind for the last few weeks and I dont recall seeing much about this so I figured I'd ask. Sorry if its been discussed or I've missed something. I'm also just halfway through Bands of Mourning currently so maybe this gets answered.

Harmony doesn't appear overly aware of other shards from what I can recall. Odium is stuck at greater Roshar, which implies to me that shards arent naturally stuck in their systems.

Do we know much about the nature of shard movement/awareness of where other shards are? It seems to me that the other reason vessels know about each other at all is because of some shared vicinity/connection/whatever around the shattering of Adolnasium?

Do we have any other insight? It sometimes feels like worldhoppers themselves are more cosmere "engaged" than the vessels of the shards?

Thanks guys.

When Shards Invest in something, it is harder for them to move. Secret History touches on this. Harmony is heavily Invested in Scadrial, so He can't move away from it. Odium used to travel around and Splinter Shards, until the Oathpact presumably forced him to Invest on Braize. Now he is stuck there.

Pretty sure there is recent a WoB that mentioned that there are forces actively trying to keep Harmony unaware of the rest of the Cosmere (at least as unaware as possible). Edit: Ninja'd by Voidus!

If Odium was heavily invested in Braize he would be a much less serious threat. He's trapped there somehow, but I do not think there is any evidence he is heavily invested there.

There's also a quote from Brandon somewhere that certain forces are deliberately limiting Harmony's awareness IIRC.

Probably the same forces that are working towards creating instant noodles.

This is sort of what I was thinking. There has to be something more to it than an "ordinary" answer.  I feel like how it shows up in the letters is too important for that. Could've saved that information for another spot if so.

But then again, what the heck do I know?

I say as much in another thread (I don't know how to link on my tablet), but there is a a Connection between you and your homeland, or where you have spent a lot of your time. This is one of the major parts in allowing Selish magic to work. Connection to a planet is one piece of this, and I think it is a type of Connection which Shards are more limited by.

Since Preservation and Ruin created Scadrial from scratch, those Shards—and, by association, their holders—are almost inseparably Connected to that planet, more than perhaps any other Shards. When Sazed took these Shards, he got their power, but he also got their planetary Connection.
