KSub
Harmony stated that he had made the Elendel basin too well, that the people had it too easy. (Ok, maybe not his exact words) I was thinking about this, and I've come up with a couple of reasons he may think this. 1. The people of Elendel didn't have to struggle for anything. If everyone has an easy life, why would they try to make the world better? This may have slowed them down in discovering new things. 2. If you live in the best place in the world, why would you leave? No one would explore the world, possibly discovering a new civilization, maybe somewhere to the south. 3. Harmony used too much of Preservation to create the Elendel basin and now it agitates the Ruin aspect of his personality which forces him to create discord, or maybe Discord! What do you think? Zathoth
I think Harmony had to do this. He had to Ruin something, so he made the Roughs barren, but he cant destroy anything, so he shifted the nutrition to Elendel. I think the entire system is how he balances the powers. But sure, he is starting to seem more and more like Discord. Maybe Discord will become somekind of Satan-esque figure in Pathism...
DrakeMarshall he/him
I figure what is most likely if Sazed has his way is that he will slowly wean Elendel off of its freakish prosperity. They will continue to grow. Mind you, if other shards become involved things might not go as planned. And other shards probably will get involved on Scadrial if Trell is what I think it is. natc
Well the land being almost supernaturally fertile probably means a lot in terms of having it easy.
Pathfinder
I think his assumption was that Scadrial has a lot of catching up to do due to the Lord Ruler. So he figured that in history one of the biggest hindrances on progress is lack of resources. So he thought if I give them practically never end resources, they will have a monumental spring board to catch up with the rest of the universe. This assumption however proved false. But this is all my own conjecture/opinion.

Pathfinder
Didn't he learn anything from Kelsier? The guy started with almost nothing and toppled an empire. Lol, but he still had resources. He was paid, he gathered an army, he had the know how to run the con and he had crew members to carry out specific missions. That's hardly nothing.
