Actually, in SoS there were plenty of spikes (f)lying around, and I guess that will be more or less the case in BoM, too.

I still think that the earring Marasi is looking at is Trellium plated with whatever.

But why would an earring plated in Trellium come with a note "just in case, Waxillium."

Let me clarify:

I think marasi is too smart and rational to get involved in messy, radically power altering hemallurgy. I do see her putting on the earring at some point. Do we know if she wears normal earrings? It's not a detail I've paid attention too.

It seems to me that the earring itself would have to be the thing that pierces and makes the hole in her ear for it to "count;" am I wrong about that? Also, Wax hasn't noticed boosted powers when wearing the earring (and I'm pretty sure there was a WOB that the earring is not responsible for the boosted strength that Wax sometimes mentions not being able to account for), is it likely that it would have a significant metalurgic effect on Marasi?

The main way I could see Marasi spiking herself in a "radically power-altering" way is in a do-or-die moment, in which she can justify it on some moral level--to save someone's life, for example.

I'm more in agreement with Delightful. We would need some serious danger/torture going on for Marasi to spike herself, I think. However, wanting to communicate with Harmony for raisins would potentially be part of her arc in this novel. And it would not be difficult for her to recover the earring.

Am I the only one who considered a Marasi possibly siding with (or, at the very least, considering siding with) Autonomy? That's what the foreshadowy scene about standing in Wax's shadow seemed to represent in my mind.

That being said, I would like to think that Autonomy is not a 'bad guy'. As a libertarian socialist, I disagree that a lack of order is necessarily a bad thing. To prevent the thread getting clogged with my political beliefs, I will be happy to answer any questions via PM. (Or, I might start up an AMA.) While Brandon didn't make Ruin 'evil', he still filled that role in the original trilogy, and I hope Autonomy doesn't do that here.

We dont know if it is Autonomy or not. I partly think Brandon told us because he knew we would make the connection and we know how mischievous he can be.

Anyway if Autonomy is working alone then he probably sees himself as the good guy and thinks that Harmony is getting too involved. After the last book it is easy to make Harmony a villain.

Personally, I think it is much more likely for Wax to side with Autonomy than Marasi.

Maybe I'm too much of a pessimist but Brandon Sanderson made it way too easy to like Wax and Steris together as a couple, so I have a feeling something bad is going to happen to Steris.

But could you imagine Wax's reaction if Steris were to die somehow due to Harmony's meddling? Autonomy or his representative could very easily manipulative Wax to change sides and have him work to find a way to limit Harmony's power.  We already know that Harmony thinks that Wax is special for some reason (his compatibility with the mists and thus Harmony's power?) and I doubt Autonomy would be oblivious to that.

On a side note, I doubt Wax would ever get to this point, but I would love to see a "Darth Vader Worldhopper". A protagonist turned antagonist and start worldhopping to counter Hoid's actions.

Is autonomy Trell?

I, personally, highly doubt it.

Probably Trell is his (or her) real name and it's another shard of whatever or even something entirely different. For now we're facing an implicit RAFO.

Ok let me reframe that question.

Who or what is Autonomy and how and why does he/she/it enter this conversation?

I'll pm you

I really thought she was going to use Wax's earring for a second there. I still think she might in the future. It is, after all, what I would do(probably what most of us Sharders would do).

Most of us Sharders would do it solely for the opportunity to say, "Hi, Saze!" and bounce gleefully.

The question remains, what He will say to us. My guess is "Who the rust are you?"

Except knowing Saze, he'll find a way to say it politely and in such a manner as to make us feel good about him asking.

Agreed. But if any sharder gets a Hemalurcial Earring that would have dreadful consequences: We would have to accept Calamity as Cosmere

Not unless Reckoners actually happens.  See?  Until real-life people start getting superpowers, we're safe.

On the other hand, believing that Doctor Who is Cosmere...

But then Alcatraz is also cosmere...And that means Alcatraz shattered Adonalsium!!!! (for this he traveled back in time with the Doctor,of course)

This is a super cool theory I think it might be possible that the creature ReLuur described was a voidbringer with hermelgic spikes.

Have you read Bands of Mourning yet?  Suffice it to say that a spiked Voidbringer was not what was being described.
