Earl Grey tastes better, Del.

Plus you can feel the satisfaction of being Jean-Luc.

Only if you say "Earl Grey. Hot" in an authoritative voice every time you pour a cup.

I have a Starfleet badge and a metal mug that I use.

And then I assume my best future Brit-French old man and enjoy myself for a few minutes.

Are there ruins on Crete? Of the Minoans and the minoatuar and king midas?

Yes there are and they are amazing! I can send you some photos once I get home :D

@Deliiiiiightful Don't listen to the non believers, tea is the way to go! Earl grey, breakfast, it doesn't matter, just get that delicious tea in you!

I...I can't taste tea.  People hand me tea, and say, "Oh, you should try this, it's really good!  It tastes like this and this, with a hint of this, and a bit of spice, and and and!"  And then I sip.

What I taste:  Hot, slightly bitter water.

It's tragic.

Are there ruins on Crete? Of the Minoans and the minoatuar and king midas? .Or is that on santorini?...I learned a lot of greek history in school.

Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and for ruins it has big walls tha go around the highest area

As for Crete you are correct . Not sure how real the Minotaur is ,but who knows what shard could have invested here in the past

Blasphemy! That's like saying a lager is the same as an ale, or that chardonnay is the same as champagne! I'm so shocked, I'm spluttering tea all over my work space!

As a quick definition, Earl Grey uses an oil to give it a orange citrus flavor. Breakfast teas tend to be stronger black teas.

Tea does need to be brewed right to avoid the bitter tannins. Particularly with green tea, people brew with waaay too hot water.

A bit of sugar/honey and/or milk helped me to recognize tea flavors to begin with. Now, I usually drink it straight.

Oof. I still need some Splenda to down it all.

Someday...

My family usually brews Black Tea and Earl Grey together, 1:1.

I don't know how it fits into tea culture, but we just prepare some really strong brew in a teapot. Later we pour some into a cup and fill with hot water.

Not sure where is this coming from - it may be a Russian or Turkish custom.

We've got some local people who do really fancy teas that are held up by aficionados as the Best Tea (tm).

I still only taste hot, slightly bitter water.  Add sugar or honey and it just makes it sweet enough to be palatable, but it doesn't bring out any other flavors for me.  I think my taste buds are just out of calibration from human standard.

I've set my alarm for 4:15 am on Friday. That should help me get to the airport in time to get a parking spot, and to change plans if need be.

I keep telling myself that every other thing I've worried about lately (moving, making it past probation at work) has turned out fine, but I can't help imagining the worst.

You'll. Be. Fine. It's not the situation, it's you, you got this. *hugs*

You will be fine.  Just remember to do the things I taught you last week, and it should insulate you from your mother's trained attack brain weasels.

So, like, normal brain weasels are like wild Pokemon, but Twimom's are Team Rocket?

If Team Rocket were 30% more evil, 100% less self-aware, and 5,000% more competent.

I just learned for the second time in about a week that an older acquaintance passed away. Not someone I'll grieve over for days but......I'm still sad. And life (and death) is ridiculous. Maybe I'm feeling it more because my life is a little more unstable right now because of the move, maybe because it's the end of 2016.......

Death is death no matter what, and you've got a right to be upset about it.

Also, do you need a hug? :(
