She got all nervous and drained and wanted to throttle the next person who couldn't figure out the printer?

No, she got nervous to the point of being physically sick at the thought of having to see our stepmom while there.

Crying, in my experience (which, yes, is an extent of about 15 years) is one of the best things you can do to get out the emotions you're going through and feel better.

Just remember, they can only make you as miserable as you care about their ire.

And...you know what?  I have a theory.  Imma Facechat you.

I'm a school bus driver and just got to the high school, parked, and noticed it smelled like gasoline. I noticed a long trail following the bus and discovered a fuel line had burst in the engine. I had to wait in 15 degree weather with a bunch of grumpy high schoolers while a new bus arrived. The new one arrived, I think it was built in the 1960's, and it gave a violent lurch, every time, shifting between 2nd and third gear...it was terrifying. On the brightside nobody was hurt and a few more days until Christmas break.

I just slept for 14 hours through alarms and people trying to call me and now it's 2pm and I've missed class and I have no idea what just happened and I feel crap about everything.

Oh no! :( It sounds like you were overstressed. Not a solution, but it does explain what happened...

Anyone else get this depressed feeling at the end of the year... feeling like they haven't accomplished everything they wanted to? I mean, I'm not a person of lofty goals, but still. I've wasted time and abandoned projects and... and overall just not achieved what meager goals I set myself.

Write and publish a short fanfiction.

Finish a personal database on all the worldbuilding I've done in my head.

Overall just create something I can be proud of. Something I can point to, smile, and say "I made this."

...

I guess that was vague and unspecific. Just saying, I feel generally depressed at the moment. :/

Maybe you just haven't found the right project yet. I began this year dead-set on finishing at least the research and worldbuilding for the Spokaneverse by the end of December. November rolls around, I've done some research and even written a little, but it stalls every time I try to write more.

And then Quiver convinces me I need to write about cowboy wizards, the worldbuilding comes together in two weeks, and I'm already 2,000 words in. I just needed to find the right project, the one that I was ready to write and that was ready for me to write it.

Maybe that's it. Maybe all you need to do is find the right project. It's out there. :) And don't feel bad that you didn't get it done this year. 2016 was a raging dumpster fire for everyone and the sooner we forget about it the better.

This is all of my feelings in one post. Everyone I've spoken to in PM's knows how annoyed I've been with my own lack of focus and activity.

It's not the same, but I'd say you can take pride in your Oregon and RP posts at least. Other than that...

Again, sympathies since, us exactly how I'm feeling.

Public Alert: If you got a $5 off coupon for Target, please be aware that it will not work on anything. Apparently, lotion, a pair of gloves, and a handbag do not fit into the categories of "beauty, personal care, or apparel."

Also, those signs promising 25 or 40 percent off are lying.

Gah. Should've remembered that place was a ripoff. <_<

Huh.  Usually Target is good, at least around here.   (The gloves and handbag would be "accessories" but you've got me stumped on the lotion.)

We have freezing drizzle going on outside.

I don't go to Target. It's way to far in town close to casinos and way to full of traffic to deal with.

freezing drizzle sounds ace. It's gray and 65 here. Ah sorry it went up to 68..

I have a sore throat.

Yes, in the grand -or even small- scale of things, that's no big deal...but my job is a good 80-90% answering phone calls.

I don't want to have to call in sick. But I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. Kind of terrified I might end up giving work last minute notice. Last time I had a sore throat at work, I just trying working through it...to the effect that I spent two days barely able to talk and aching whenever I did.

But we're short staffed right now and only JUST got a holiday rota set, and I don't want to be the one to break it...

If your sore throat would hamper productivity rather than help it along, it's probably best if you just cut your losses and stay home.

Blech.  It's cold and slick and dangerous out there.

Last night, I convinced James to reprogram the thermostat from 70 to 72.  I am no longer a miserable block of ice-feet while at home.  This is helping my general sense of well-being so very, very much.

I imagine your coworkers would appreciate it if you kept your illness to yourself.  During cold and flu season, sharing is NOT caring.

Thanks--that does actually help a lot. :) I'll just let my mind wander a bit and see if I can't find something I can throw myself into again.

See if there's a rabbit trail you keep wandering down, one you keep being drawn to despite thinking you should really be focused on something else.

Or you run into a Bugs Bunny type creature who is determined to humiliate you with slapstick!

To be fair, northern states have the infrastructure and budget to handle winter.  There are snowplows and salt trucks, and most people have all-season tires.  If you get really north, people put chains on their tires or have studded snow tires.  They're ready for this stuff.

Southern states have none of this.  Most of those cities never experience this kind of weather, and it would be wasteful for them to attempt to budget yearly for something that happens one day out of every three to four years.  And people simply don't have the driving experience necessary to know how to drive safely in those conditions.

Plus, the further south you get, the more likely you are to get ice storms.  Snow is a pain, but ice will absolutely cause accidents, down power lines, etc.

Erm I have a problem.

Theres like 25 people in one room for hours and hours with no oxygen flow. I'm sensitive to that, couldn't concentrate in high school without air. Now I'm falling asleep. There are two small windows and opening them doesn't help. The person sitting next to me who woke me twice in like ten minutes just told me I'm audibly snoring. So yay for all of the embarrassment!

Im gonna try sit next to the window from now on but people have unofficial set seats at this point so awkwardness, and I'll probably be told to close it because it's too cold outside.....that's what usually happens anyway......
