I've drawn a much more terrifying conclusion from The Big Short: even people who are supposed to know things are just as stupid as anyone else and nobody ever makes any effort to check anything.

If they were simply evil, we could rebel and get good people in that place instead... But they're stupid and there's no one you could replace them with.

I realize the conversation has mostly moved on from cakes with or without milk, but I had an idea. @Delightful, would the cake be acceptable to eat with meat if you used a plant-based dairy substitute like almond or soy milk?

Noodly One, I hate this financial system we have here.  

Credit is easy (the concept, not actually getting it). The idea is that you want to appeal to creditors. This boils down to making payments on time AND paying plenty of interest. This translates into the creditors seeing that you are fiscally responsible AND that they can make money off of you.

Debt is not necessarily bad, in fact, Hamilton was all for having a national debt. Debt implies an investment on someone's part, which leads to monetary growth and, more importantly for everyone, currency movement.

Yes, I just didn't have any on hand. I'm not sure about almond milk but soy milk does change the taste too.  

The cake was for a party and everyone ate it, so it can't have been too bad
