Take a look at the mistake you made, try to analyze why you made the choice you did, and be aware of that the next time you're in a similar position.

The fact that women's clothing designers have decided as a collective that we don't deserve pockets.

I'm usually not one for conspiracy theories, but the notion that women's clothing designers and handbag designers are in league together makes too much sense.

The excuse they like to use is, "Oh, pockets would ruin the lines of the clothing.  Women don't want that."  YES WE DO JUST ASK US

I needed new shorts last year.  I walked straight past the ladies' section and went for the men's cargo shorts.  POCKETS GALORE

Sigh.  Men have it so easy.

Why should the intended gender matter? Pants, and clothes in general, are tools. If the tool you're currently using isn't working, grab a different one. Most pants come in neutral colors.

Side note: I really like my sweatpants as I'm able to fit my paperback Mistborn copy in they're pockets

I think @Kaymyth says that she should be able to buy pants in ladies' section which are not deprived of pockets.

Anyway, the whole thing probably stems from this belief: "You need to keep your stuff somewhere. Women have handbags. Men do not, so they'll have pockets" or, alternatively "You need to keep your stuff somewhere. Men have pockets. Women have to have reason to use handbags, therefore pockets must go".

Well, men's clothes are fitted differently than women's.

On that note, it took me forever to find jeans that weren't skinny. I just want pants that cover my legs, not squeeze them to death. Furthermore, why on earth is the trendy thing see-through tops? If this keeps up I'll be buying all my clothes from the grandma aisle in Goodwill.

See-through tops can be fun, if you wear a colorful cami underneath.

I have to get up and dressed at around 5:30 AM. I'm not in the mood for dealing with multiple layers at that unholy hour. :P

One other trend in women's clothing that bugs me is calling anything larger than size 12 "plus size." Thank you for making every woman who's not model-thin feel fat.

This is a big part of it.

Plus, there's the formalwear aspect, which is not as easily genderswappable.  Men's dress pants always have pockets.  Women's dress pants?  Not so much.  And dresses/skirts with pockets are like unicorns.

I actually do have to wear a belt with most pants because I'm not shaped like clothing designers think women ought to be shaped.  I have a flat butt and a high waist, so finding jeans that fit me properly is hard.  Finding jeans that fit that don't require a belt to stay in place is impossible.  Men's jeans have the problem of fitting a bit too high for comfort; hip-huggers are what fit me best, but trying to find those outside the junior's section is a hunt in and of itself.

I believe it actually developed from men being the ones dealing with money so their clothes had places to put money. It was unladylike to be involved in business so women didn't get pockets. And then handbags came in so that we could actually carry stuff, but I think that started with lower class women who gasp dealt with money....at one point they had belts that went under an outer layer of clothing I think? I read this whole article about the development of pockets a while ago. tl;dr is sexist, and if not sexist its plain stupid.

I don't wear pants. I have bought an otherwise plain skirt simply because it has pockets. Never mind the design, I can carry things! And I have this one denim skirt I bought in Israel with relatively massive (probably normal size for a guy) pockets and its my favourite garment because I can carry a key and a phone and like tissues and a granola bar (can't quite fit a wallet) and not need anything in my hands! It's amazing.

It actually sounds smaller than my pockets. I can carry my phone, a knife, and two granola bars and still fit my hand in my pocket

Ladies! Group glare! :P

Seriously, if you had to wear ladies' jeans (especially skinny jeans) for a day, you'd see how spoiled you gentlemen are.

knife, wallet, pack of tissues, phone and keys (like 6 of them). I could probably put my headphones there too but 1) I have nothing to plug them into right now 2) don't wanna expose them to keys.

And that's just one pocket.

Don't. When somebody is making five accounts they either deserve to be banned or they need to be explained to what is and what isn't accepted on internet, given warning and offered second chance since they're probably new to the whole internet thing. And that's about it.
