Can bad dreams be a pet peeve?

There were (high)storms all night here, so I barely got any sleep...and what I did get was marred by dreams of ny boss shouting at me.

The fact they've never done that changes nothing.

Bad dreams that can't be used for inspiration is definitely a pet peeve.

Falling in love with some kind of crustacean and thus having a telepathic link with it was interesting though.

I'm glad there's another introvert who isn't considered shy.

Most folks assume i don't want to talk to them, because my mind simply goes blank when trying to think of a reply or a topic of conversation.  And quite often, I'm off in the corner.  If anyone's ever watched TNG, you can think of me like Lieutenant Barclay.

I had a sort of similar situation, where people began to assume that I was standoff-ish and stuck-up just because I didn't seek conversation with them first. The way I see it, they could have initiated conversation if they wanted to. Instead they sit around passing judgement on people they don't even know. Not the sort of people I would ever form a friendship with.

This may seem stupid and petty, but it bothers me when people pronounce the final G in words ending in "ing." My dad does this, so when he says words like "king" or "thing" they sound more like "kink" and "think."

When people fat shame other people. Seeing this literally makes my blood boil, I'll charge in and give the person in question a dressing down in public. No one deserves to feel like their very existence is something to be ridiculed/belittled. I don't know why I feel so strongly about it but when I see someone sad because of this it literally breaks my heart. I think it may be because my gentle, kind-hearted brother was shamed like this all through his childhood.

A good guideline I heard for determining whether or not you should critique someone's appearance was, "Can the thing you're criticizing be fixed in five minutes or less?" If it can't, don't bring it up. The five-minute limit also restricts the list of approved criticisms to things like smeared lipstick and food in teeth, which I think is really the only thing you should criticize about someone's appearance anyway.

Pet peeve: I AM THE TROPERBOT 3000. THE TROPERBOT 3000 REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ERROR: YMMV OPINION LISTED UNDER TROPE THAT IS NOT SPECIFICALLY CODED AS YMMV. TROPERBOT 3000 WILL DELETE EDITS AND WILL ALSO BE UNRESPONSIVE TO PRIVATE MESSAGES. TROPERBOT 3000 IS ABOVE CRITICISM.

This!! You've spoken my thoughts exactly. I was taught it was wrong to make derogatory comments on the whole, especially about things like weight, and it's so bizzare to me that this bit of common decency has slipped past so many. If I mention anything about a person's weight at all, it would only be to tell them how great they look if they've lost weight. The five minute rule is great, think I'll mention that the next time I'm giving someone a dressing down.

Rabid shipping fangirls are also another pet peeve of mine. It's okay to have a ship, but if your entire board presence becomes about that ship then it's irritating to say the least. There's so much more to stories and characters then who they end up with. I think I almost feel embarassed for people like that, perhaps because I used to be a bit like that back when i was in my early teens!

For me, I think fandoms should be enjoyable apart from their ships. One reason I eventually lost interest with the Hunger Games series is because the fandom was focused almost entirely on the Peeta/Katniss/Gale love triangle—not helped by the fact that the entire series places an inordinate amount of focus on it. If the only draw for a series is the shipping, then that's not much of a draw, in my opinion.

And TV Tropes members who use editing the wiki to feed their monstrous egos are really starting to make me mad….

Dear neighbors:

Just because it's New Year's does not mean that letting your young children run around in the street screaming bloody murder at midnight is acceptable behavior. Fireworks, blowing air horns or noisemakers--those I can understand. But trust me, NO ONE enjoys listening to screaming kids.

People who try to put "politeness" before the rules of the road.

This morning, as happens so many mornings, I was at the intersection out of my subdivision.  The light went green.  I wanted to turn left, while an oncoming car wanted to turn right.  In the United States, right turn as the right of way, so I waited my turn.

The person turning right waited, too.  And tried to wave me through.

I laid on the horn and said some impolite things that the other driver (fortunately) could not hear.

They turned.  And then I turned.  AS THE LAW SAYS IT SHOULD BE.

I sometimes really hate polite people on the road. A lot of the rules of the road are there so that there is no doubt as to who should go first, politeness is not only unnecessary in those cases, it's a bloody waste of time!

Worse than that, it's dangerous.  If you muddy the rules, then people get confused, and confused people get into accidents.  One of the reasons why I absolutely refuse to take right of way when it is not legally mine is if I did so and someone screwed up and there was an accident, I would be the one at fault.

Somewhat related: It drives me up the wall when I'm turning onto a road with two lanes and somebody from the opposite side of the intersection is also turning onto that road, and they try to turn into MY lane, e.g., I'm turning right and they're turning left and they try to pull into the right lane. That's not how it works!! We could both turn at the same time without a problem if they'd just STAY IN THEIR STORMING LANE.

It can vary by state.  Some allow a left-turning car to go into the right lane if traffic is free.  Other states prohibit it.  Either way, what you described should not happen.

Extra bonus fun:  when there is enough snow on the ground that nobody can see where the lanes are!

Sometimes I can't even see the lane lines when it's raining at night! Snow definitely worse, though, since it's so much more slippery.

I get irritated about how, almost always, parents with screaming, snot-nosed kids will almost always choose to sit as close to the reader as possible in a restaurant.

Seriously, the rest of the restaurant will otherwise be empty and they will choose the location closest to the reader! This is one of many reasons why I support child-free restaurants.

Basic library etiquette: If you need the librarian's help on something computer related, please don't make them stand there while you arrange your personal items, take out your card, rearrange your personal items, and log onto the computer.

How about "family areas" within the restaurant?

I don't support what's essentially banning parents from public spaces.

Irrelevant to what I'm talking about.

To give an example: I've been sitting in the coldest part of the restaurant, away from any place desirable and these jerks will choose to sit next to me even though there is an entire restaurant with sufficient sitting and table space to choose from.

It's not about whether they can be in/use public spaces, it's that they purposely/instinctively choose to force me into their spaces. It's similar to if I decide to drink heavily in a restaurant away from the bar in a table next to a family (with the associated drunken shoutiness). It shows an inconsideration for the people around you fueled by one's narcissistic selfishness.

I think I may have put this on this thread before, but I can't stand the things that are like "share if you're against child abuse, ignore if you're a heartless creature." "If you don't share this post in 10 seconds, tomorrow will be the worst day of your life. If you share it now, it will be the best day." "Share if you like [insert fandom name here]. Ignore if you like Justin Beiber"

Typical blackmail tactic.

One thing: When girls constantly post selfies with "omg I'm so ugly" or "deleting this when I remember how ugly I am lol." Literally the translation is "Someone please give me attention" in all caps. My feeds have been spammed by that and it's so annoying.
