Spoilers... for Harry Potter?

That's like spoilering that Titanic sinks. Or that Boromir dies. It's not even considered a spoiler.

Whatever you do, don't tell me the relationship between Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde...I haven't finished the book yet!

The fact that the twist is common knowledge actually kind of ruined Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde for me...

Yeah, the last chapter was great, but everything else lost some pizzazz, since there was no mystery.

Exactly, the entire book is more or less built on the mystery, the fact that we already know the answer kind of makes the entire thing a drag, sadly. Im sure it was a great book back when society didnt spoil it for you.

I wanted to do that instead of Titanic/LotR spoiler, but I figured people may be offended. But since you did it I can have my cake and eat it too :D

Darth Vader is Luke's father?

I have friends who legit didn't know that, and I got to be there when it was accidentally revealed to them. :D

On a country station I listen to, there is one very specific genre of song that is played rather often: The Your-Current-Boyfriend-Is-Stupid, Break-Up-With-Him-And-Date-Me-Instead song. Sometimes the "Date-Me-Instead" part isn't stated, but it's always implied.

Look, if you were just reaching out to a girl who is a friend, and telling her, "Hey, that guy you're dating has been changing you for the worse, and I can tell you're not happy. Go ahead and dump him," that'd be awesome. Good for you, caring about your friend's emotional well-being. Just don't tack on the "date me instead" part. Maybe she needs time to herself after getting over that bad relationship. Maybe she needs to heal from the breakup. Even if she can dump him with no emotional fallout on her part….dude. You're just telling her to dump him so you can gain from it. Not cool.

Yeah, I don't much care for Avril Lavaigne either ;)

People who borrow books for infinite amounts of time.

Remember Lunch Girl? I got her to read Alcatraz, and she enjoys it, but she has the worst book-borrowing etiquette of anyone I've loaned books. She puts off reading them for forever. ("Have you started reading it yet?" "No, I've been reading a lot of fanfiction lately." "It's been three weeks.") When someone lends you a book, it should become your reading priority. You read my book before your fanfics, Lunch Girl. She actually kept one over summer break.

*muffled screaming*

She also dog-ears pages. I cannot forgive anyone who dog-ears the pages of other people's books. If it's your own, fine, I can't stop you. But you must agree that you shouldn't do it in someone else's book!

The worst part is that she sees nothing wrong with any of this and wants my brand new hardcover copy of Dark Talent. No can do, Lunch Girl. You must earn back the right to borrow my books.

Similarly, All About That Bass. Meghan Trainor

On the surface: yay body positivity love yourself you're perfect!

actual lyrics:

"I can shake it like I'm supposed to do" - ok, who's dictating this to you?

Maybe it's the "boys [who] like a little more booty to hold at night"

oh and body positivity is wonderful unless you're a "stick figure silicon barbie doll".

So in actual summary:

boys like large girls. Boys dictate what large girls should do with their bodies. Skinny people are unattractive. YOUR WORTH AS A HUMAN DEPENDS ON HOW ATTRACTIVE RANDOM DUDES FIND YOU AS REGARDS THIS ARBITRARY STANDARD OF LARGENESS.  YOU HAVE NO CONTROL.

Which is no better than "thou must be skinny to be attractive to be a human worthy of existence".

Ugghhhh just noooo go awaaayy stop singing thiiss!

IMO doing that to someone who is kind enough to lend you their book(s) earns you a spot on the permanent blacklist of "never allowed to borrow my books again." I lent a book to someone once, and she kept it for so long that when I went looking for the book on my shelf and it wasn't there, I didn't even remember that I'd loaned it to her, so I thought my mom had lost it when I gave it to her to read. So my mom ended up buying me a new copy, and months later, the negligent borrower finally gave me back my original copy. Obviously, I was surprised, and when I realized what had happened, I was thinking... You kept this for so long that I forgot I'd even loaned it to you. No more book loans for you!

If I may be so bold as to offer some advice--tell Lunch Girl that if she wants to read The Dark Talent for free, she should check it out from a public library because you have had enough of her taking advantage of your kindness and abusing your property.

And if she "borrows" the library copy indefinitely or abuses it, then she can pay the library fines, and maybe she'll learn a valuable lesson.

Getting seven downvotes just because I said that "it's the third topic about that" and that they "should learn to use search". I linked the original topic which holds answers. Then @Argel agreed with me and got another seven downvotes <_<

But the real Pet Peeve is when people don't understand they're causing the problem with searching for something by creating more topics about the same thing! It's hard to use search exactly because you don't bother to do it!

I have no idea what specific post you're talking about; maybe people took issue with your tone rather than your content?

Hey, but I don't really mind all those downvotes. I mean... it's not exactly nice, but it's not something I'll think about twice.

It's just really frustrating that people don't use search, create topics about the same rusting thing and justify it by saying it's hard to use search and don't realize they're only making using search harder.
