Book 3 title

I am freaking out right now.  I commented on one of Brandon's FB posts.  He responded.

As a note, today's scene from Oathbringer turned out particularly well. Pretty hyped about this sequence as it's coming together.

The Archduke Is Oathbringer the final title or a working title? What happened to High Prince of War?

Brandon Sanderson I am liking Oathbringer more and more. Highprince of War isn't impossible, though.

Yay! Highprince of War is a great title!

Oathbringer is a bit different from the previous Way of Kings and Words of Radiance - a one-word title instead of three words. Highprince of War would continue that trend - WoK and WoR and HoW. Since we don't know what exactly will be in the book, Highprince of War refers to Dalinar's current title, whereas Oathbringer refers to his Shardblade, which he gave up before becoming Highprince of War.

The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance are both books. That seems a little odd to me.

Brandon did that on purpose, begging the question - Oathbringer? So far he's named books after in-universe books, so naming another book after a sword is unusual - UNLESS Oathbringer was named for a book, which is unlikely....

Brandon has said he didn't mean for there to be a trend going where the titles of his books were books in the story, it just so happened to be that way. Stones Unhallowed I would very much doubt is a book.

Brandon has said that Oathbringer is the name of a book in-world.

That's actually the opposite of what is going on.  Brandon definitely planned on all of the titles being in-world books, that is why the series is named The Stormlight Archive.

Perhaps this can help:

Mr Sanderson is writing parts of a book in a book.

Both titles - Highprince of War and Oathbringer - are possible, only at the moment he prefers Oathbringer.

I don't think there will be two versions of book 3 - both titles refering to the very same in-world book.

What's a possible connection between a Highprince of War and a blade named Oathbringer?

The connection could be Dalinar was not meant to be the "Highprince of War". It could be he was initially meant to be a dead flashback character  :( and while we would be reading his past life, the main story arc would have dealt with other characters. It could the book "Highprince of War" is NOT relevant to Dalinar's character, but by changing the order of the flashbacks, Brandon chose another in-world book to fit better with the story.

He initially wanted to name it "Stones Unhallowed", but changed his mind when he changed he flashback characters. The book was likely tied to the Shins, which means he postponed that story arc for a later book. All in all, I think he changed his planning slightly and the book he initially chose did not work within the main story arc anymore, hence "Oathbringer".

Yes, I know all of this.

I don't make a connection to Dalinar, only to this in-world book.

He writes a book in the book and for this he prefers Oathbringer, but Highprince of War is also possible - whichever title he will choose, it is the same story in the book.

I wasn't talking about book 3, only about this book in the book and for this both titles are possible, they fit to the book that plays a role in Dalinar's book.

(And yes, I know I'm rambling....that's the problem with a title of a book in a book with the same title...)

If anything, "Oathbringer" sounds more like an in-universe book than "Highprince of War", unless it's just a straight-up autobiography.

"Warring as Oathbringer(s)" or "War for an Oathbringer" sounds more like a recopilation of one's thouhts of leadership during war, in contrast to "The way of Kings" which, Dalinar realised, deals with leadership only during peace, and also is in the same style as WoK and WoR.
