Hello, folks, it's Darth Squirrely here. You can call me Darth, Squirrely, Meesh, or "Hey You." I'm not fussed. ;)

Ummm....should I introduce myself more than that?

Sure, why not....

I'm 19, almost 20, I'm a fan of Brandon's, though I discovered him because I was a WoT fan first. I was a Storm Leader at the Chicago signing of the tour for The Gathering Storm, and I was really impressed with Brandon Sanderson, so I checked out more of his stuff (I did get a free copy of The Final Empire at DCon about a month previous to my Storm Leader-ship) and loved it.

I like to read, write, sing, laze around and spend time on the internet. If I had to choose a favorite Sanderson work, it would be the Mistborn books. Though I'm a little over halfway through Way of Kings right now and I do love it. :D

Umm, if anyone has any questions, they can go ahead and ask me, I like talking about myself.

Oh, and I joined this site because my boyfriend told me I should. :P

Hey you :P

Welcome to 17S! I'm glad you could join us.

Hmmm, I should probably post more than just that. Let's see... what do you currently do? College? Chat away! We promise we won't stalk you*

*looks up upon hearing her name called* B)

Excellent question! What do I do?

Hmmmm....

Well, I was going to make up some fascinating story about how I work as a psychic for a hotline, but then I decided the truth works just as well.

Right now I'm just working part-time as a waitress for Hotel Nauvoo's "World-Famous Buffet." I hope to get another job as tourism picks up this spring so I can save up tons of money because I am flying out to England with a friend in September. To visit Joe.

I took classes at a community college in 2009, but I kind of dropped out of that because my heart wasn't in it; now I actually WANT to go back to school and am working to make that happen. Hopefully I can take some online classes and start this fall. It's a work in progress, but I think I can make it happen. :)

Um, I want to be an English or Creative Writing major, though since I'll be at a junior college I'll probably just major in Liberal Arts and wait till I can get into a 4-year university to go with my intended field of study.

I'm also kind of writing a book. I say kind of because I started it for NaNoWriMo, got to 50K words, kept going a little bit, and then my creativity and ideas just kind of petered out. I'm still working on it, but not nearly as much as I was before, and I'm trying to get my inspiration back. XD

Writing is hard sometimes, I tell ya.

LAWL, I don't mind being stalked, I'm used to the paparazzi and all. >.>

See what I mean? I'm being stalked already! Good thing I love the attention. (and I LOVE THAT YOU GOT THE REFERENCE YOU'RE MY NEW FAVORITE) ;)

Yes! The Creator's Corner forum. It's a little sparse, since I made the forum only a few weeks ago, but most of the administrators (and maybe the staff in general) are aspiring writers, so we do lurk there.

Awesome, I shall present myself there and participate! I like livening places up, too, so watch out! :P

Going off of the image in your siggy, you appear to be an old kingdom fan like myself :P

Yes!!!!!!! Okay, awesome story.... My best friend was rereading Lirael while I was spending the night at her house, and she let me read it. I stayed up ALL night reading Lirael, and took Abhorsen home with me the next day. I read Sabriel a few weeks later.

They quickly became my MOST FAVORITEST books EVAR and stayed that way for several years.

Then when I was a junior in high school a few years back, I took Creative Writing and we had a student teacher. One of our assignments was a "Rent-a-Character" short story, and I "rented" Mogget (because, let's face it, Mogget is the best). Our student teacher was so impressed with my story that she asked me about where I'd gotten my character from. I recommended the Abhorsen trilogy, she recommended the Wheel of Time, and my life has not been the same since (because yeah, I found Brandon Sanderson b/c of WoT).

End of short awesome story.

I was actually glad to have read Lirael and Abhorsen first, because when my brother read Sabriel first, he was disappointed with Lirael because it wasn't about Sabriel anymore. Whereas I read Sabriel as almost a prequel.

Hey, welcome! I'm glad to see you here, and making yourself right at home at that. :D I'm Kerry, and they call me The Highprince of Stuff because there isn't much around here that I haven't stuck my hand in at some point or another. I'm currently working on something awesome, but it's a surprise. ;)

As for where the aspiring writers hang out, a bunch of us also congregate around the Mistborn RP, which Eric and I run together. If you like writing, and you like hanging out with writers, and you like Mistborn, you'll love it there.

Um, yeah. I also teach martial arts, cosplay, and study linguistics. And draw random anime-style doodles of my RP characters. It's nice to meet you, and I hope to chat with you more! :D

Hey Kerry! Ooo, awesome surprises, those are, well, awesome! When is the surprise going to be unveiled, might I ask? >.>

Ooooooo, RP.... I haven't really ever seriously tried RP, but it always sounds fun. Maybe I'll check it out! Well, I'll DEFINITELY check it out, but maybe I'll participate, too!

I'm going to pretend to know all about martial arts and ask which kind of martial arts you teach.... >.> (thus displaying further my true ignorance of the topic, no doubt :D)

It's nice to meet you too, everyone has been very friendly so far and I'm enjoying this forum already. :D

Hmm... I had a question to ask, but then I lost it....

So this random topic generator asks, "Chocolate or vanilla?"

In general I like vanilla-flavored and scented things more than chocolate, but I do love me some dark chocolate and chocolate chip cookies....

Hi. You can call me Feather or Alyx, I don't mind which. It's great to see you here! (I'm glad I'm not the newest active member anymore!) So as I am now officially a veteran, I'll give a couple of hints.

Feather's Guide to 17S for Newcomers (Because I am oh so knowledgeable)

1. Watch out for Chaos. He's the Lord Ruler. He lied about the stalking thing, and is secretly watching you to see if you have any traits he can steal with his hemalurgic spikes.

2. The admins are all Inquisitors. Beware offerings of a promotion. Also watch out for reminders about "spiking appointments".

3. Suck up to Silus. He gives out awesome points and they are the digital form of crack. (Can I have some more, Silus? Pleeeaaaasssseee???)

4. Be careful of any mentions of writing endeavours or role-playing. These words are like catnip to the Mistborn RPG admins and they will swarm around you in an inexcapable vortex of recruitment.

5. Once you finish all of Brandon's major books (Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker, and Way of Kings) head over to the General Theories board. If you don't know about the cosmere yet, you're in for an awesome surprise. But not before finishing those; spoilers abound on that board!

6. For the most part, everyone around here is awesome.

I'm a chocoholic myself, though I prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate.

Also I'm also a fan of the Old Kingdom series.

And yeah, once you finish reading all Brandon's major stuff, head on over to the theory boards and join our loony theorizing. And make sure you read the annotations for the books on his website! (the ones for WoK aren't up yet and won't be up til he finishes writing AMOL but most of the rest are up.

Also, obtain a print copy of WoK, the art and the ars arcanum add much to the experience.

Yes, Feather, take 10 AWESOME POINTS.

I'd say the best advice would be to get in good with Rubix. (IRL friendships FTW!)

OR you could be EVEN MORE AWESOME and join the Nexus RP! So much fun. Yes, I'm biased, what of it?

Have you read any of Garth Nix's other stuff like The Seventh Tower or the Keys to the Kingdom series? Those are awesome, though, sadly, I haven't read the Abhorsen books so I can't compare.

Yay for aspiring writers!

@Feather....Your post oozes awesomeness. And I bow to your superior amounts of experience and wisdom, and will memorize your tips!!! (or at least, come back to revisit them often because they're so awesome)

@Crazy--I totally used to love milk chocolate, but my tastes have changed a lot in the past couple years and now milk chocolate plain isn't something I'm a fan of, though I'll eat it, because it is still chocolate and chocolate is awesome.

And thanks for the suggestion on getting a print copy of WoK; I can't afford it right now or else I'd have gotten one already. =S I only have the audiobook because it was free with the trial membership of Audible. >.> But as soon as I have money....yeah. *nods*

@Silus--I love taking online friendships into RL, it's so awesome!

Yes, I've read all of the Keys to the Kingdom books except Lord Sunday; I just moved away from my hometown and the local library here doesn't have any Garth Nix at all.... -.- Luckily they do inter-library loans so once I finish an audiobook I should go request that.

Have you read his book Across the Wall? It's a collection of short stories by Garth Nix, it's SOOOOOOO amazing.

@Joe--You just have to know what to ask, apparently. >.>

Yay, a bodyguard!

Speaking of audio books, i actually finished listening to the audio books of the old kingdom trilogy not too long ago. I went and got the audio books because they're read by Tim Curry, and let me tell you, he does an AWESOME Mogget.

I wish I could give you a better answer to your question about the surprise, but unfortunately, the answer is "When I'm finished with it." I have a lot of work to do with school, and the Super Secret Awesome Surprise is very time-consuming. It's worth the wait, though, I promise. :D

As for the RP, feel free to browse around, and don't hesitate to ask questions. We went kind of nuts with our worldbuilding.

I teach Choi Kwang Do, a relatively new martial art that uses the science of the human body to achieve the maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and health benefit to the user. Since starting it, I've seen a marked improvement in my health, including a heart condition.

The answer to your question, while I do enjoy vanilla, is CHOCOLATE. CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE. I am a chocolate fiend. X3
