Seonid he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) I can't believe nobody's posted anything about this yet! So I will. The new Star Wars trailer came out last night, and it's as awesome as I could have hoped for! Who else liked the trailer? EDIT: This is now the official star wars episode VII discussion thread. There can only be 1. No more, no less. Unless there are two. In which case, this thread is the master, not the apprentice. Edited December 1, 2015 by Seonid 7
Briar King Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I loved it visually. On dialogue not so much. Hans lines concern me greatly as it seems to imply Luke is indeed hiding/scared and not the awesome Master I've been reading about since I was 13 in 1993. Sigh it's just going to feel so backwards like that. 2
Clanky he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He could still be an awesome master who just happens to be a hermit. As for the trailer itself it looked awesome and the music was great. I don't have problems with the dialogue since it doesn't actually give anything of the plot itself away. As much as I want to see know what the plot is I feel like it is better to wait to see it without knowing anything.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 it was great. But really, a StarKiller? Sounds like chull poop. 1
Patar he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 It got me excited, but I'm trying to keep my expectations low, so that way if it is as amazing are many are expecting it will be, I'll be even more blown away. That being said, it is looking a hell of a lot better than the one that will not be named, but it would be pretty hard to make a Star Wars movie worse than that one, right? Right? 3
ThirdGen Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I so want to do this:"Did you see that trailer?""Yeah! Trumbo looks great, right?"

Sigh it's just going to feel so backwards like that. Keep in mind that Disney said about two years ago they took the entire EU and threw it out the window. There is very little that was kept as cannon. So the Jedi master you've been reading about has now been thrown into an alternate universe. 1
Briar King Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Trust me I'm hugely aware and angry about that with my 2 cases worth of novels Ive bought over the past 19 yrs lol. My point is that after all that time reading him become Grand Master over 44 yrs in story seeing him onscreen afraid to use/teach the Force will feel like backwards progress.
Young Bard he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Personally, I'm waiting for a review before I decide to go see it. The prequel trilogy was disappointing, to say the least, so my vote is hopeful, but not enthusiastic. Edited October 21, 2015 by TheYoungBard
Bort he/him Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 it was great. But really, a StarKiller? Sounds like chull poop. The name Starkiller was selected as a tribute to the original A New Hope script, where Luke was originally called Starkiller instead of Skywalker.
Briar King Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Wait I didn't hear that name in trailer. Where is it at?
Shrike76 he/him Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I'm optimistic. I remember watching the first prequel trailer and being less than completely impressed. This one doesn't immediately look like they're making a kids movie, which Phantom Menace absolutely did. I'll go see it unless I hear a ton of negative word of mouth, because I never make it to the movies on release day. I'm always at least a week or two behind, so I'll have lots of time to be warned away if it turns out to be terrible. But I choose to remain optimistic. 1
WayneSpren he/him Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) I've seen this trailer over forty times since it was released. I love everything in it except for Finns' and Kylo Rens' dialogue. The visuals are amazing, Harrison Ford, awesome battles, Harrison Ford, a great soundtrack, and Harrison Ford. Edit: I bought a ticket to watch a 7 movie Star Wars marathon in theaters on December 16th. It costed $50, but it was worth it. http://www.memes.com/r/0Fid Edited October 31, 2015 by WayneSpren

Titan Arum Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I am cautiously optimistic about this movie. I love JJ Abrams because I thought the first two seasons of Lost were brilliant. I also like that the screenplay was written by Lawrence Kasdan...the man that brought us, in my opinion, the best Star Wars movie ever: The Empire Strikes Back (even if I think he screwed up with the Return of the Jedi because George Lucas was more concerned with selling toys). Even with that cautious optimism, I have obviously already purchased my tickets to see the movie at 7 pm on Dec. 17th. Kipper, it may be hard to find tickets still available for an early viewing on the 17th. I tried to buy tickets at the Chinatown theater a few hours after they were up for sale and it was sold out for the entire day already...however, I may be willing to sell my tickets to you if I can't go. I might be in Bangladesh for work on the 17th (crossing my fingers that I won't be!!).

Chinatown in which city? But anyway, I already have tickets for the Regal RPX at Springfield Towne Center outside of D.C. Not sure why, but all of that day's showtimes at that theater still has tickets available (with the exception of Dolby Atmos). Thanks for the offer, though, and hopefully you won't be out of the country!
Left he/him Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I now have Star Wars socks as a gift from mum. She rocks. I'm also very, very happy that she knows I'm too old for Star Wars underwear. Hype hype hype!!!! 1

I have my tickets for Georgetown. If I am in the country I'll make sure to take the 17th off of work or take a half day so that I can get in line for a good seat. Kaladin al'Thor Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdAUiyeJMFQ Not in English, but some awesome new footage! I am getting pretty psyched to see this movie! 1
Iarwainiel I she/her Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I am really excited about this movie! I have some vague theories re: Luke, etc., but I'm trying not to guess ahead too much because experience has shown that it only dims my enjoyment later on: I love living "in the moment" with the characters, experiencing things when they do. So glad it's John Williams' music again! ...and the music clips they chose for the trailer could not be more perfect. Also - Kaladin al'Thor, you beat me to the punch re: the Japanese trailer! It was a relief to hear that the dialogue is in English, even if the on-screen text isn't. Almost all different footage ... definitely worth your time. 1
Guest Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Here is the International Trailer in English: Also a TV Spot:
Briar King Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 New ABC TGIT trailer from tonight https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ApKv6X_c0AA 1
Pestis the Spider she/her Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 This trailer looks really bad. I suddenly started to worry more about this movie. 1
Briar King Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Well that not informative. What don't you like exactly? I must say I've come full circle since trailer 3. I was so pissed losing entire EU but the sheer marketing strategy they have pulled off in last month have been brilliant. They've shown us scenes without spoiling one bit of what is actually going on and the visuals have been breath taking.
