So I just found a few full-length movies posted on Youtube, and even though watching them is probably illegal somehow, I did it anyway. I saw "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" (actually pretty good) and the 2014 Spiderman 2 (also pretty good, despite what I've heard.) I also stayed up all night.

Despite what you guys have said, I think being sleep-deprived is actually pretty fun. My movements get all jerk-y and I stare at food for some reason and I can feel the inhibition-y parts of my brain shutting down and I feel sort of shiver-y. Unfortunately, it also opens the door for me to think about the soul-crushing nihilism that I usually manage to bury with my routines and video games and theology and stuff.

Was Spider-Man 2 good?

I thought it had too many villains and subplots (which works in a novel, where you have more time to develop them, but not so much in a movie) but Andrew Garfield's performance was good and the romance between Peter and Gwen was well done. Then again, I do still have a lot of nostalgia for the first two Sam Raimi Spider-Man films.

What is "nihilism"

Edit: never mind, Googled it.

Too bad, you'll get an answer anyway!  :P

Strictly speaking, it is simply "denying" something. In common parlance, though, it usually connotes "existential nihilism", where you view the universe around you as being "absurd" (without perceivable meaning) and conclude that there is no meaning behind anything, so angst.

The action was also pretty good. Essentially as long as you don't go in with too high expectations it's an enjoyable mostly lighthearted Superhero movie that still has a different tone then the Marvel Avenger ones.

Where is spiderman? I don't care about illegality. :P

I really, really liked it. This may be partially to do with my just ending relationship, and really liking the Peter/Gwen, so I might be more emotionally attached to it than it maybe deserves. It's at least a good movie, probably not a great one though.

Pretty much this. It probably also helps if you haven't seen the Sam Raimi ones, or at the very least weren't fond of them. My sister really liked the reboots, while I thought they were okay. The Sam Raimi Spider-man films were some of the first superhero movies I ever saw, so I have a lot of fondness for them; on the other hand, my sister hasn't really seen them. So the nostalgia filter is a big part of it too.

There was a third.

I never particularly cared for Spiderman. Especially since Doc Ock scared the living daylights outta 8-year-old me.

Much like how Tim Burton's 1989 Batman was awesome at the time, because we hadn't really had better yet, 2004's Spider-Man 2 was awesome... then.  Superhero movies have come a long way thanks to Christopher Nolan and the MCU.

As someone who adores the Sam Raimi movies, I also really liked the Amazing Spider-Man duology. Unfortunately, both Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suffered the same flaw, which was being forced by the big-wigs to shoe-horn too many villains in. At least The Amazing Spider-Man 2 handled it better than Spider-Man 3 did.

Aside from how well the movie managed to portray the action and romance story lines, they actually had the stones to movie-fy the "snap heard around the world," which was the definitive end to the silver age of comics (though most believe the silver age had ended 3 years prior). For those curious, don't look that up until after you've seen the movie, if you care about spoilers.

It actually makes me sad that Sony has given rights over to Disney, as I'd have really liked to see those Sinister Six movies.

I'm also sad that Andrew Garfield doesn't get to keep the role. I really liked him as Peter.

When I was younger, I read my first manga book. I read it the normal way for books, which is the WRONG way for manga. I read the whole book like that, and decided it was the most complicated plot I had ever read. I later discovered that you are supposed to read it from right to left. I was eight, I think.
