Yeah. My thoughts exactly.

I sent an email to them to see what the deal was.

Mists of Time sounds like a pretty good title for a series. But I think it might be a typo since everywhere else it says Mistborn. Quite curious indeed. =\

How in the crap do you misspell the name to the series when you get it right everywhere else? That's beyond insanity. You have to consciously make the effort to screw that up.

Posted

Especially since it says "A Mistborn Novel" on the cover of Alloy of Law. Maybe they thought Mistborn was the name of the trilogy and not the entire series? I'm grasping at straws here...

The only rational explanation is that they got it confused with the Wheel of Time. Somehow.

The thing is that I can't deduce a purpose to the site other than putting up news about Alloy of Law. There's no community stuff, making rather curious how they intend to make it a "fan" site.

Definitely. I'm wondering just who would put up a site like this. Tor wouldn't make an error like "Mists of Time".

Yeah, but you don't get my meaning, Silus. I want to know who would be possessed to make such a bizarre fansite for the sole purpose of making news for Alloy of Law, and making a fool out of himself on the internet.

This is the internet. Making a fool of oneself is kind of par for the course. You just have to take one look at the comments section of YouTube and you know.

Too true.

Don't break my illusion that Brandon's fans are, on the whole, pretty intelligent people :P

We totally are intelligent. You can't exactly call someone who misspells Mistborn as Mists of Time a fan of the series, can you?

What are you talking about? Mists of Time was excellent. The best part was where The Dragon Reborn fought The Lord Ruler.

A younger fan with beginning knowledge of HTML and not much experience with good web design decided to make a website for his favorite author? (I don't know how he paid for the domain, don't look at me.) Tor picked an employee at random and gave him instructions to make this website, but said employee had never read Mistborn or The Wheel of Time? ???

I think they may be amazon related. first the banner ad, then the fact that all the links on the author page (save two) link to amazon products.

Just sayin

Also, the Alloy of Law link goes to the mistborn box set... This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules?

It's a mystery within a mystery. A dream within a dream!

A mistery in Mistborn.

Lots of typos, lack of content...good times. I'm keen on the young kid who doesn't really know any better theory.

I'll put my money on "A clever ploy to grab brandon sanderson fans in an attempt to garner attention to his/her new and upcoming masterpiece 'Mists of Time' by a sinister mastermind"

[/conspiracy]

It looks like a basic "put up a website in order to make advertising money" thing. They spend maybe 20 minutes slapping together a website using a template, then leave it there unchanged for months or years to come, counting on Google hits.

Definitely the most plausible.

Of course, they'd get more hits if they spelled the dang name of the series correctly.
