My evening:

I'm suddenly extremely glad my eleven-year-old sister won't be in his youth group when she hits thirteen. <_<

I just read cupcakes.

Why would you do that?

Nevermind. There's only one cure for Cupcakes.

Read this magnificent fix-fic. No ifs, ands, or buts. Read it now, enjoy the cuteness, and vow never to cross into the grimdark side of MLP again. It's the only way.

This exchange happened, with me kind of tired and doozing off a bit while two friends of mine had a conversation next to me.

Friend: *adressing me* That was an pretty impressive story, wasn'i it?

Me: * not knowing what he's talking about* Oh, absolutely! Now, if he had done it with a glass ceiling it would have been even more impressive.

Friend: Why a glass ceiling?

Me: I have no idea whatsoever.

Friend: I see, I like your train of thought.

Me: It's rather entertaining, isn't i?

Called back both Barnesville and Anchorage. With the first, I have a Skype interview set up for Tuesday; with the second, the woman who called me wasn't there so I left a voicemail and I'm waiting anxiously, typing this with one eye on my phone so it's a miracle there aren't more typos for her to call me back.

Awesome! :D

Just remember to answer all the questions honestly.

Today has been a really good day. :D

I...

...learned that I'm a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship award...

Dude, that's awesome! I missed it by a few points, but luckily I did better on the SAT. Good luck with becoming a Finalist!

On the subject of "Cupcakes" (which sounds pretty horrifying, if your reactions are anything to go by), do not. Under any circumstances, ever. Ever. Watch the remix of Pinkie Pie's "Smile" song. Just don't. Trust me. I got ~30 seconds in, thinking it was a harmless animation.

I have never been so wrong in my life.

I should have listened to Pinkie's advice from "Cutie Map" -- that smile was just too big to be real.

It started off with a disclaimer: this song may cause extreme joy, rated M for Magnificent, and all that. True that, thought I. Then it cut to a semi-realistic animation. Not bad, thought I. Then the unmentionable happened.

Sweet Celestia! thought I. Do a brony a favor and pass the brain bleach! (I actually mentioned this a while ago on the bad day board: I felt legit sick afterward.

Moral of the story: pony grimdark: bad.

This had been a PSA from an emotionally scarred teenager.

If you need something to clear your head, try some episodes of Static Shock on Dailymotion. I know that when I'm blindsided by a grimdark MLP story, I have a hard time seeing the actual show the same way for at least a few hours afterward. And Static is fun. Between the 90s slang and the inclusion of actual serious issues (gangs! racial tension! a pilot episode where they actually show a real gun!) you'll wonder why they took it off the air so soon.

Brass tend to be rather good at that sort of logic.

A funny thing happened: I was trying to read some smudged writing on my hand. It had washed off somewhat, so it was kind of hard to read.

I thought it said "literacy pending."   :P

Today I personally made a national-level congressman mad enough to get red in the face and yell at me.

Today was the proudest day of my young life.

Details?

In the interest of not drawing the forum into political territory, I won't give all the details except maybe in PMs. But the gist of it is, a congressman was taking questions in a public forum at the local chamber of commerce, and I called him out on the baloney science he was predicating his arguments on.

He dodged my points as well as he was able, refusing to actually answer any one of them, and by the end his voice was the loudest in the room as he tried to get me to stop pressing him on the matter.

He also tried to institute a policy in the room in which no one would speak unless he gestured to them, which I completely ignored once it became obvious that he was only allowing people who agreed with him to speak.

Always a worthy pursuit.

As it should be.

That feel when you are trying to get permission to use a song in a school project from the copyright holder and it says on their page that they don't answer inquiries about such a thing and you just .-. Does that mean I can use it? Or not? Why don't you just post that oh my godd

Anyone here know how annoying it is to organize Voice actors. Because if you have to in the future I'll give you a tip:

Pack patience and ice-cream (Patience is required and the ice cream is to soothe the emotional damage.).

Also I'm proud of you Kobold we all know Bacon science is better than Baloney science!
