Nepene he/him
I saw this on reddit and I thought I'd share. http://www.reddit.com/r/Mistborn/comments/1exfc6/melting_down_metalminds/ ntdfbladez I got a chance to meet Brandon in Houston this past week at a signing. I asked him: If a metalmind is melted down and changes shape, does it still retain its power? His answer: Yes, only by mixing it with other metals would the power be completely lost. Also if any pieces of the metalmind are lost, then some of the power will be lost (as it would be in the missing pieces). I tried googling this question for awhile and never found a suitable answer, so I thought I would share it now that I know the answer! Props to him. WeiryWriter he/him
Wow, thanks for sharing that. It answers the question I brought up about what would happen if you alloyed a metalmind. Now that's one less question I have to ask Brandon.
Phantom Monstrosity
Neat! Now, to ask what happens when you alloy charged zinc and charged copper

king of nowhere
ii assumed melting a metalmind would dissolve the effect. I was planning to get a food metalmind and eat all i can without getting fat because i can store the nutrition in the metalmind instead, but now i can't recycle the metalmind just by melting it. I would have to buy a new one. aww. Another question: if a feruchemist die, do his old untapped stores stay there? Like, forever? And as long as they are there, no other feruchemist can store anything on that metal piece because it's already used?

And since hemalurgic spikes let you access someone else's metalminds (and involve killing said person), I don't think metalminds wipe upon death. Like, forever? And as long as they are there, no other feruchemist can store anything on that metal piece because it's already used? This answer suggests that there is a finite amount of space "in the metal" for the charges to be stored. ReaderAt2046: Can a Feruchemist store an attribute in a metalmind that someone else has already stored in and if so, do the charges affect each other in any way? Brandon: Yes, but the charges are just stored in separate pieces of the metal, and don't really influence one another.

In this instance, their Feruchemy lives on in the spike. Perhaps the charges would fade if their power died with them.
