TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Has anyone else started watching this show? I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-acted, well-written show with an interesting premise that thoughtfully explores all of the ethical and philosophical questions raised.
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 YES!!! It was a bit slow to get going but it is pretty storming good. Pretty evocative and definitely makes you think a bit more. Got my blood riled riled up in a few parts. Hope it gets a second series
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 What is it about? Human-like robots, or "synthetics," as they're commonly known, have become basically a servant class in near-future Britain. Since they don't feel pain or emotions, they have no rights, yet fulfill many essential jobs. However, there are a handful who do feel emotions and have gained sentience. The show is about what happens to them, and all of the ugly ways a bunch of human-like robots with no rights would change society.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 So basically, Bladerunner? I haven't seen that movie, but from all I've heard, there are a good many similarities.
Briar King Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) So basically, Bladerunner? As in the AI arcs it's similar but it's set basically in our time so no cool Sci Fi/Future Tech stuff going on. It comes on AMC Sunday nights. You can watch it free at their site Edited July 26, 2015 by Briar King
SmurfAquamarineBodies he/him Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'll start watching it then. Sounds interesting.
Briar King Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I'll start watching it then. Sounds interesting. Yea I would. It's been really good the past few episodes now that's it kicked off. Ep 1 is very slow and confusing. 2 picks up but it's not really till 3 till the hook is set.
