A Windspren he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 A SylPhone would be very interesting, a really sarcastic Siri along with the other buffs. You: Syl, where is the nearest Horneater restraunt? Syl: I need a compliment. You: You are beautiful and articulate. Syl: That's a statement of fact. Deleting all photos. 7
Atkion he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 We know Syl can take many appearances, including the appearance of a human person (full size), we now know that not only. all may be for example a bucket or a hat. (?) If they can be whatever they want, I wonder if this means that all spren can take human form and walk as if they were persons of full size (transparent etc, but persons), we have seen Syl, but I can not imagine Pattern in human form... you imagine a meeting with all protagonists together with their spren in human form? It sounds cool to me. but I wonder if there forms that certain types of spren can not take. I think that Pattern's 'Human' form would probably not be human, just the humanesque Cryptic form he takes in Shadesmar. 1
Atkion he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Won't the arrow just pass through people without stopping? Rock can maybe pull it off but you basically need to headshot to do anything. If it would, all the better! Penetrating shots! You could kill tons of people with one arrow, unless one is wearing Shardplate. Just shoot through the heart. Or the head. Or the back. See my point?
Alfa he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I think, that an Arrow would kill, even if it don't hit the back/head/heart. It just need to hit a place, where in the cognitive realm the person will believe itself as mortal wounded. Even a hit with the arrow in your chest on the right side (assuming that Rosharans are left-hearted) will be fatal, because the cognitive aspect of the person will realize, that it got shot on a place, where arrows usually mean death. 1
Atkion he/him Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Hmmm I suppose so. Good point. In that case, Shardarrows are even more Overpowered!
natc Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 So against a crazy megalomaniac who believes himself to be invincible shardblades do nothing? O_O Storming Epics . . .
Atkion he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 So against a crazy megalomaniac who believes himself to be invincible shardblades do nothing? O_O Storming Epics . . . Just show him the power of Shardblades as you pwn all of his honor guard.
natc Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Don't think scaring Steelheart is actually possible.
Atkion he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 Well, you wouldn't be afraid of him if you had Shardplate, would you? Weakness applied 1
Kasitor's Tanavast he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 wouldn't be afraid of him if I had a spren to sass him, I'd be laughing to much Epic: You will swear fealty to me!! Syl: Well I'm a piece of a god
Kasitor's Tanavast he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) one random question about shardstuff, do radiants wearing shardplate automatically glow the colour of their order (i mean does the armour glow)? Edited August 11, 2015 by Kasitor's Tanavast 1
AerionBFII he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Shardclippers, the finest manicure and hedges in all of Roshar.
Alfa he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 As far as we know, yes, the glow is in the same colour. Never heard of a radiant lending his armor to somebody else, so we don't know.
Atkion he/him Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 But the fact that modern-day Shardplate doesn't glow also ties in to that theory. The wielders are not Knights Radiant, and therefore have no color.
Shadowspren he/him Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Based on how my girlfriend complains, I understand that brushing long hair can be a pain... So what about a ShardBrush... Hair would KNOT stand a chance 3

natc Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Airstrikes: Radiant style. Fly a few hundred people over and then just drop their blades on everything.
Atkion he/him Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Shardpickaxe? Easiest mining and construction ever.
Kasitor's Tanavast he/him Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Airstrikes: Radiant style. Fly a few hundred people over and then just drop their blades on everything. Why do I get the idea that this is the most ineffective method ever?
natc Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Why do I get the idea that this is the most ineffective method ever? It probably is, or they would do it more. Nobody promised anything about only having effective ideas here did they? It's already more lethal than what goes on in the Useless Uses for Useless Powers thread. On a different note, ShardTripwire.
Kasitor's Tanavast he/him Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Nobody promised anything about only having effective ideas here did they? It's already more lethal than what goes on in the Useless Uses for Useless Powers thread. On a different note, ShardTripwire. True, I need to see that thread, would ShardTripWire not just kill your legs? why not put it at height to clothesline people. get two horses with two riders holding shardwire between them killing everyone in their path (just give horses shard armour)
natc Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Move the tripwire to spine height too, I guess. Not sure what to call them anymore.
Numuhuku he/him Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 While I'm sure you can form a spren into a wide range of weapons, I'd think you'd limit it somewhat to what performed well ergonomically, as well weapons that were most effective at cutting/piercing and parrying. So blades, polearms, axes and the odd shield seems like they'd be your primary bread and butter, though there's certainly a lot of variation between those categories. The one weapon form that honestly leaves me a bit confused was during the Kaladin/Szeth fight when Syl transformed into a hammer. It doesn't seem like a blunt force form is very conducive for a material that's unusually light (the mundane great hammers that are used with Shardplate are useful *because* of their immense weight). I suppose it's possible that the hammer generates some kind of magical impact on contact, though it doesn't seem like that'd be as effective as simply slashing them with a vorpal blade that can cut through stone. 1
