Shardbearer he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 So who was Reya, then? Any theories? Zahel had some of the bridge 4 officers train with a Shardblade, but Kaladin said he wouldn't touch it unless Zahel ordered him to, which he didn't. I wonder if Zahel was testing Kaladin in some way, if he knew that Shardblades were dead spren. He did know that Kaladin had a spren. I wonder if he knew that meant Kaladin could surgebind. Syl told Kaladin that the winds were helping him, even the first time he picked up a weapon as a boy, and that the winds led her to him. How did the winds know, even then, what Kaladin would become? Was he acting honorable/protective even then? Was it Cultivation using her precognition? When Kaladin meets Hoid again, Hoid says that all he wants from Kaladin is a good story. And Hoid seems to have a habit of starting organizations that exist to collect and spread stories.... I wonder if there's something important about that.

Weiry corrected me on something in regard to Reya's Tear (I think the OP was asking if Reya's Tear was linked to Cultivation/Honor and i said that questions around Reya's identity etc had always been RAFO'd) but apparently it was confirmed she isn't (don't take this is as official yet, can't track down the topic to link it) I wouldn't be surprised if Zahel knew, given the level his hidden advantage is at. I think it would allow him to see/check Investiture level. I think it was a mix but probably include something to do with the governing bodies of each spren species perhaps I had an idea/'theory'/question about Hoid's history with those in the Elantris forum (as you've seen) but i need to get on to the AMA and see if i can get confirmation of my thoughts first Edited July 19, 2015 by ParadoxSpren
Shardbearer he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Reya: Hard to say. What I'm asking is since it's confirmed that Reya is not Cultivation, who else could she be?
ParadoxicalZen he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Derp, I didn't realise that this was the topic. I'm thinking that she is another Worldhopper for sure, or at the very least, someone who is very cosmere aware, perhaps from another secret organisation maybe
Kelek's Breath he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 ...What I'm asking is since it's confirmed that Reya is not Cultivation, who else could she be? Reya was Adonalsium's life partner (since we don't know if Adonalsium was male or female). Thus the tear.
Shardbearer he/him Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 I just noticed something that I don't think I picked up on before. Wyndle tells Lift that people can't see her because he exists mostly in the CR, even though he's moved his consciousness into the PR. No surprises there, but as I thought about it I realized that Pattern is always visible, although he can blend into various surfaces fairly well. Does this mean Pattern is mostly in the PR? Will Syl lose the ability to become invisible now that her PR presence is strong enough to become a Shardblade?
Kelek's Breath he/him Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) Will Syl lose the ability to become invisible now that her PR presence is strong enough to become a Shardblade? If Dalinar's visions offer proof, then no, because in the Purelake vision, the Radiant is talking to someone, but Dalinar thinks she is talking to herself; no spren visible. Also, there is a WoB that some spren have difficulty hiding themselves, while others are better at staying invisible. Edited July 20, 2015 by Kelek's Breath
Shardbearer he/him Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 I posted too soon. Apparently Wyndle answered that question in the same paragraph.
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Different Spren talk about being able to cloak themselves from view, Syl can also show herself to anyone when she chooses before Kaladin speaks the 3rd Ideal. So I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with strength. What interests me most is that Pattern is a Liespren who can't cloak himself, he is always visible if you know where to look.
Shardbearer he/him Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Another observation: Wit/Hoid says Amaram is even worse than Sadeas.
