I'm glad the age difference isn't so pronounced between Ray/Nighthound. The relationship would be ruined for me.

Frankly I wish Red were a little older. Right now the age gap between her and Nighthound is enough to make their relationship just a touch Squick-y.:P

Only a touch squicky? Well Sparks, I thought I did better than that. Let's see, how can I fix that grave mistake.

I'm back!  Sorry for the absence.  I'm going to try to work my way through the back-log, but if you asked me something and would like a more prompt answer, your best bet would be to ask again here, I think.

I saw Edge's question about Shiny Sparkle before I left.  I think it would be fun if she came to Corvallis, and would be interested to see how a Shiny Sparkle/Princess GOOD plotline might work out.  That being said, I'm sure she could make an amusing and interesting addition to Portland or Astoria as well.

Welcome back. The most important things that happpened in your absence were most likely Shiny Sparkle getting her scolding by Vondra and Redlight, as well as Kobold adopting Shiny Sparkle, just as his daughter though, I'm still writting her.

There's also new vanilla characters entering the Dalles.

I just caught up in the Dalles thread.  Great posts guys!  I think I'm gonna call it a night, but I'll be back some time tomorrow, hopefully with a post of some kind.

You know guys, I sometimes wonder what our characters would like in a more High/Epic fantasy setting instead of a urban one like the Reckonerverse.

Nighthound would of course finally be the demonic entity of primal evil he was always meant to be, without its own body and just a nebulous cloud of vile darkness, possessing human flesh to make up for the lack of an actual body. Depending on the setting his powers could be ramped up quite a bit but his personality still lends itself better to an entity that can be identified as a person instead of a force.

Lucentia on the other hand would be full grown evil overlord material and I’m talking world conquering evil ala Sauron and no just simply a run of the mill evil queen here. I’d probably keep her as a human albeit with a ridiculous amount of magical energy. The creation of crystalline golems/constructs would probably be added to her powers, to create her evil legion. Her relationship with Nighthound would as a consequence of that no longer blood relationship; however I could see him being a demon bonded to her instead.

Voidgaze I again see as more of a magical entity. This time a benevolent one, though, maybe something along the lines of a local deity of an isolated community.

More thought on other characters to come but feel free to share some thoughts about your characters.

Nathan would be the humble farmboy. Not the Luke Skywalker type, who constantly dreams about leaving to go on a grand adventure; more the type who dreams about a good harvest where Lucentia (or whoever the local Evil Overlord is) doesn't take the best of the best. He'd be generally accepting of his lot in life, but like most humble farmboys in fantasy novels, his life would be upended.

Funtimes would be the rebellious princess. There would be some genuine heartbreak in her past, but that wouldn't change the fact that she'd be on the run from it and all the responsibility it entailed, nor would it excuse the fact that she caused quite a bit of chaos with her actions. She would probably run into Nathan while in disguise, using her magical abilities to spirit him away.

Autumn would be a good priestess or nun. She would do her duties/chores cheerfully and spend the rest of her time helping members of the community. She would be the one who gives advice to the noblewoman who doesn't want her arranged marriage, listens sympathetically at Confession, and generally tries to make her village or city a better place.

Koschei would be an Evil Overlord, or at least make an attempt. He'd probably be a necromancer—or perhaps still an evil healer—with a small but fanatical following of devoted cultists.

Remington would be the jaded wanderer with a mysterious past that involved losing his family to Koschei. He'd be more Chaotic Good than anything else, willing to ally with perhaps unsavory characters to take down whoever he deemed the biggest threat. If there was a plot to assassinate the local Evil Overlord, you can bet he'd be in on it.

Quota would be a torturer for an Evil Overlord, and he would love his job. And I mean really love his job.

Panacea would be a healer working for whichever army committed the fewest atrocities.

The Unicyclist would be a bard. If there were a Bard's Guild, they would've kicked him out for being too weird. Not that he would care.

"I am Princess Fantasytimes and you young Nathan must come with me."

"Why me?"

"You are a farmboy that just meet a princess in disguise, clearly you are the choosen one and must form a party with me to defeat the evil Lucentia, and afterwards destiny will inevitably decides to wed us two."

"...Curses your logic is without flaw."

Ray I would turn into a member some kind of fantastic race that has inhert magical abilities, which has been enslaved by the Nighthound entity to make use of said inherent magic.

Shiny Sparkle would be a traveling witch using her magical charms to seduce the attractive young people of the village and otherwise make a living by selling love potions, fertility charms and the like to the townsfolk.

Baxter would keep his occupation as a doctor, maybe join the heroes party as the medic.

Jack would have to fight against some kind of demoic taint trying to take him over. It is rather likeyl that he would turn to to the gods form some kind of divine support. Giving him a dual nature by making him also in a holy warrior, would allow for some nice playing with tropes, I feel.

Would part of his "turning to the gods for some kind of divine support" also involve being shipped with Autumn?:P Because that, joking aside, would also make for some interesting playing with tropes—rather than having the holy warrior struggling against a demonic entity be continually at odds with the church, a member of the clergy is his closest ally.

My it is almost as if you read my mind. I see your shipping senses are back in high form. But yes, her support would always be welcomed. Question from that would be if he's the protector dedicated to her village, visits regulary or if she goes with him on his journeys. Now, if we want to mimic the structure of the Dalles we only need to make Vondra the pope (or at least leader of the military arm of the church). :P

Because I have to:

Not bad. Not bad at all.

If her village were small enough, I think she'd probably go with him on his journeys. Someone powerful enough to be a holy warrior and be chosen by a demonic entity (at least, I'm innate power level has something to do with it, unless the demon just liked his haircut) would probably be too powerful to just stay with a village.

Orange Crush would be a wandering knight. A decent fighter but way too full of himself to do anything useful.

Mason Rubio would be a pikeman in a king's retinue.

Mouldbreaker would be a corrupt prison guard

Showstopper would lead a group of evil bandits.

Antithesis would be an evil queen, sort of like Asuedan.

Pope Vondra: "Hear my decree, our forces shall devote their might to catching the witch tainting our youth and making them fall to the temptation of lust."

Random demon number 37: "Huh, who shall I try to posess this time... hey that guy has nice hair."

No I have to agree, the hosts inherent power seems a better cause for the infection. :P Still I wonder if pope Vondra would promote her to holy maiden for travelling with him. One way or another they are suiting up for quite the nice pair of fantasy protagonists.

Further on the list of my fantasy characters, Bloody Mary is another demon, naturally one versed in blood magic, that serves Lucentia. I wouldn't be suprised if Red were some kind of cult member dedicated to her.

Deathgale would be Lucentia's dragon, however I'm not entirely sure if he should keep his more buttler like persona or instead make a class switch to being a black knight kind of evil general.

"I, Pope Vondra, also declare good haircuts to be henceforth banned across the realm. Look, I'm sorry that you all have to wear the traditional bowl cut of the peasant class, but it really is for your own good."

I'm not sure if he'd promote her or just issue some sort of edict ensuring she could seek refuge in all local branches of the church in case the demon started to take over, but I do agree that they'd be quite the pair. Would they fight Overlord Lucentia, or demons like Bloody Mary?

"As sad a truth as it is but good haircuts lead to demonic posession, I gained this information from my trustworth right hand Dewhickey, he would never just say something is an evil temptation, if he didn't belive it was true."

Well, until now all demons we introduced are working for Lucentia, so I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make but first huntintg down the demons plaguing the land (potentially gathering more party members) and then aim for Lucentia herself seems like a good game plan to me.

I've been writing EoO entries for my Salem characters, and I just realized that Soulcaster definitely needs one. His motives, history, and personality are still sort of shady. Do you mind getting on that, Voidus?

Definitely a nice departure from "farmboy gets his birthday wish and learns he must go on an adventure and save the world" plot. And the shipping would be central to the plot! :D

Wonder what Kobold will think when he gets online and learns we made Vondra the Pope.

"I have complete faith in him. Otherwise, I wouldn't let him lead negotiations with the evil overlords surrounding Dallestopia."

Yay! Maybe they run into the Voidgaze entity on their joureny.  Meanwhile, Nathan and princess Fantasytimes wonder why the plot hasn't shown up yet. :P

 I see no reason why he would complain. Of course I'm also interested in the roles he may give his other characters.

"Really, Pope Vondra? Him?"

"Well, it was him or Lady Emma, who I believe is currently painting mustaches on all the paintings of the saints. Again."

"It'll show up any time now, I promise."

"Can I go wait on my farm? It's almost planting time, and they're going to need my help."

"You can't be on a farm when the adventure starts!"

"I was on a farm when I met you."

"And now you're not. So now we just need an adventure. So there."

Neither do I; it's just humorous that we decided one of his characters was the Pope. :P

"Badly, apparently they refuse to change their haircuts."

" " :P

I wonder if they'll ever get involved with Autumn's and Jack's party, even if it's just a sidequest.

Meanwhile, I wonder how FireSlayer feels realizing what madness she involved herself with. :P

Give in to temptation. Classes are a ploy by The Man to keep you from having any fun.
