Well, the MPAA is wonky enough that the filmmakers could probably shave a few seconds off problematic scenes here and there and avoid an R rating. Then again, it's the ATTD List we're talking about.

A WHOOC where people can punch themselves in the face and have it reflect onto Deathwish?:P

The hunt scene alone would make it R.

Since even we didn't show the hunt itself, they could probably still skirt an R rating. Unless, of course, Hollywood decided audiences really needed to see it, which—let's face it—they probably would, because the meeting would go like this:

Director: All right, get me storyboards for the hunt scene.

Screenwriter: Um, I thought we were skipping that? You know, like the original authors did

Director: But how will we know Timeport, Electro, and Quota are evil if we don't show the hunt scene?

Screenwriter: The fact Timeport betrayed his friends, Electro turned murder into a game, and Quota pushed a random vanilla to tears in his first appearance wasn't enough for you?

Director (surprised): Why, was it supposed to be?

Uh oh. Did it come out that way? I was hoping it wouldn't look like Deus ex Machina.

The way I tried to portray the scene, Fawkes wasn't feeling too threatened by Crush's display, interpreting it correctly as a bluff intended to get the man some respect. What he actually wants, after all, is simply to be taken back to base. That's practically protocol anyway.

She'll play along and give him what he wants for now, seeing as there's simply no point in aggravating him. She'll let her superiors deal with his attitude, once he gets back.

Though honestly, once ge gets back, he probably won't have an attitude. His feeling of humiliation will wear off pretty quickly now that he percieves that his personage is being respected

I suppose that Kobold and I are a bit trigger happy with threats of mass murder.

Although, I don't think that bringing him to Vondra is protocol. That would be bringing him to Autumn and Reader one of which is asleep, so I guess protocol would be detention or something like that until tomorrow.

On the movie rating buisness. I'm pretty sure that a graphic representation would have an easier time getting an R Rating. I mean we have several mass slaughters for the evulz, people in the nude often against their will, sexual assault, canibalism and some rather brutal cases of violence. Wow, this RP is dark.

And that's without them hiring Deathwish so they can have a fiel day with the female designs.

Talking about movies, did anyone see the new Superman v Batman trailer?

Comatose and Tyson, do the Queens know about Reflection? I was under the impression that they did not, but Rainmaker ordered Buttercup to contact him prior to the end of Day 1. I'm going to be skipping Buttercup contacting him and Jumpdrive, but figured I'd ask anyways.

Edit: It occurs to me that Reflection was renamed Malevolence, so never mind.

New post up! Ostensibly a Vondra post, but it's more Redlight than anything else.

Redlight to Shiny Sparkle:

They gave Lex Luthor hair and let Zack Snyder direct. I am disappoint.

To be honest at this point the trailer left me more confused than anything... which isn't a good thing, obviously.

Except I think the only kind of sensitivity training The Dalles would offer would be Vondra angrily lecturing Deathwish on the concept of consent for the millionth time.

I'm really curious how Kobold would react, if I told him that now there's no other option than Shiny Sparkle killing them both.

Not that I*'m going to do that.

And like stealing 40 cakes, that's terrible. :P

I'd have called her "Tough Love," but there's not really a lot of love in the things she says. :P

For the record, if Shiny Sparkle flies into a fit of rage feel free to have her blow up part of the office. Redlight's ready to freeze herself and Vondra, so they'd survive a direct explosion at the moment. The only negative consequence would be that Vondra would have to greet Orange Crush shirtless...

...wait, did I say negative? I meant awesome. :P

Now all The Dalles needs is an Edgerunner-type Vondra fangirl (except more in Vondra's age range) to capture the moment for her calendar.

Weren't you against her being able to freeze herself? Plus, if she were to really go at it, Shiny Sparkle could effectively blind Redlight and given that her power is dependent on sight... yeah not good for Vondra.

Um... I don't remember that. I may have said something on that level before, but I've been assuming for a good few weeks now that Redlight's capable of freezing herself.

Shiny wouldn't be able to blind her, either. Light-induced blindness is a consequence of damage to the eyeballs, and not a single cell in the eyeball can be damaged while Redlight's frozen someone. Technically people shouldn't be able to see, hear, or even think while frozen, but we handwaved that for better scenes.

Also, line of sight is necessary for freezing someone in the first place, but Redlight doesn't have to maintain sight the whole time. Otherwise frozen people would be freed every time she blinks.

Well other than the age range Scribbler ticks most of the boxes I guess :P

Quick get her to HQ! :P

By the way, was the plan for Backtrack and MV to spend the night at the clinic?

The mystery of who had been spontaneously creating shirtless Vondra statues all around the Dalles was finally solved. :P

Here is Redlight's power as I currently envision it.

  • She is capable of freezing an individual within 20 feet of her that she can see; loss of sight will not cause targets to unfreeze, but passing more than 20 feet away from a frozen individual will.
  • Every cell in the target's body is frozen, moving only in relation with the Earth. (To prevent frozen characters from being left behind in space as the planet moves.) As none of their cells can be moved in any way, a frozen individual is essentially in an indestructible stasis.
  • Despite the fact that their eyes are no longer absorbing light and neurons have stopped firing, characters thus frozen remain magically conscious and capable of observing the world around them while they are in this state.
  • Redlight can freeze her own body and up to ten other individuals at a time.

If anyone has any objections to these rules, please speak now. I'm trying to make a concrete list of rules that she follows to prevent further confusion, but I'd hate to benefit from rules-lawyering my way out of trouble. This is how I'm currently modeling her power, but I am open to change and discussion.

The best day of Scribbler's life, and she's too busy in the clinic to even know it. :(:P

I'm, uh, not sure. :P I think they're gonna get a ride to the clinic, will receive instructions from Game and a truck from Arsenal, and will wake up early the next morning to get back to Portland. Our plans on that front have changed repeatedly, so I'm uncertain of what's gonna happen next.

Nope, no problem there.

What a poor girl. -_-

Well, Baxter wouldn't mind them staying, so I'm open to it. Just thought that knowing beforehand might help.

After the second viewing, I'm filled with questions. Questions like...

  • Wait—Batman has a daughter now?
  • Why was his maybe-daughter at Wayne Tower? Was it Bring Your Maybe-So-Maybe-No Daughter to Work Day?
  • What was Superman doing in Gotham, anyhow?
  • Who scrawls threatening notes on newspaper clippings?
  • Seriously, has no one in this series heard of the internet? Superman has trouble with basic facial expressions. He probably wouldn't know how to track somebody's IP address.
  • Do they still think casting Ben Affleck as Batman was a good idea?
  • I mean, seriously. I'm having a hard time taking him seriously—or was I just ruined by Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy?
  • Is Superman really being called on the carpet for his wanton destruction in the first movie?
  • Why doesn't Zack Snyder just adapt Steelheart if he wants to film evil!Superman this badly?
  • If everyone just wants Superman to go home, why are the soldiers bowing to him?
  • Why can't Superman and Batman just sit down and calmly discuss their differences? Wouldn't negotiation set a better example for the people they're leading than punching each other in the face?
  • Why is DC trying to cram so many heroes into this one movie? Do they really think that'll work?
  • Is….is he really Lex Luthor? He has hair. Lex Luthor doesn't have hair.
  • Seriously, why does Lex have hair?
  • WONDER WOMAN'S NEW LOOK IS SO COOL! WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT ABOUT WONDER WOMAN?

I think I can maybe answer some of them... maybe... I'm still confused myself.

  • What was Superman doing in Gotham, anyhow?

Maybe the cities are right next to each other? Or he's investigating terrorrist!Batman?

  • Is Superman really being called on the carpet for his wanton destruction in the first movie?

Seems like it. I have heard some people say that this would make the whole destruction in the first movie fine, because it's all part of the plan to make things realistic and everyone that didn't like it before was just shorth-sighted for not seeing the plan. I simply say that I don't like the plan, because I can look more than one movie ahead, but what do I know?

  • Why doesn't Zack Snyder just adapt Steelheart if he wants to film evil!Superman this badly?

Batman even notices the similarites. Do you remember the "can you bleed" line from the teaser?...Although, I'm also not sure if he's suppossed to be evil anymore.

  • If everyone just wants Superman to go home, why are the soldiers bowing to him?

Hard to say, maybe opinions are split, maybe Luthor is pulling the strings, maybe it's just stupid.

  • Why can't Superman and Batman just sit down and calmly discuss their differences? Wouldn't negotiation set a better example for the people they're leading than punching each other in the face?

Because... Let them fight.

  • Why is DC trying to cram so many heroes into this one movie? Do they really think that'll work?

Trying to catch up with Marvel's Avenger franchise I fear. -_-

  • Is….is he really Lex Luthor? He has hair. Lex Luthor doesn't have hair.

Right, and he lost it because of Superman. That's how their entire feud started! :P (I'm not even kidding. )

  • WONDER WOMAN'S NEW LOOK IS SO COOL! WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT ABOUT WONDER WOMAN?

'Cause Superman and Batmen get more money. At least she's getting more later.

Lastly, congratulation Redlight, you made Shiny Sparkle cry. I bet you're proud of yourself.

Haven't seen the new trailer yet, but have they given her a pair of pants yet? I've been saving pants or leggings as my cue to start applauding a modern depiction of Wonder Woman. :P

Well... this is awkward.:P I think Vondra'll offer to let her spend the night in town to think things through. Will she react well to that?

Kind of... but what did Redlight expect? She probably would react well to that, yes.

At least her new outfit is more armor than anything else. Still no pants, but better than just a leotard.

If she expected Shiny to cry, she did a good job. :(
