That sounds interesting. I'm guessing that SomeoneWhoseNameIWillSoonDecide will end up melting a lot of cotton candy. :)

Could you maybe retcon the post to make it sound as if Truthcharm is acting a bit more independently, then? I'm pretty sure that Breaker would frown upon a subordinate who ran around killing potential arena participants who hadn't done anything remotely threatening yet (perhaps Truthcharm has a grudge against Substance?) He definitely wouldn't authorize him to bring 50 guys with him to do it (since I sort of imagined Salem's Guard being pretty small-scale, maybe 100 vanillas or so. The city doesn't need to defend itself from big threats because the local High Epics recognize that the city is pretty worthless without Soulcaster in charge. Again, I'm not Voidus, but...)

All hail the new Highprince of Information!

From Alanna, one of the king's scribes:

All were shocked to see the small, strange beast best a Highprince. No one is certain why Sadeas did not don his Shardplate or ever once summon his Shardblade. One theory holds that he was momentarily distracted by the hound's strange appearance and did not think to summon his weapon. Others believe the hound exerted a strange magic, as yet unseen in this world, that charmed the Highprince away from defensive maneuvers. Still others—and their names rhyme with Paladin and Loash—insist the Almighty (apologies for the wording, but I dare not misquote them) "finally got off his lazy bum and used that weird little hound to help us."

Although the hound's origins and full abilities remain a mystery, her success as Highprince of Information is no secret. Upon sighting the strange, funny little hound with a Shardblade between her teeth, every Highprince in Alethkar immediately put aside his differences with his fellows and agreed to follow the hound.

Savannah has a shapeshifting ability to turn into a cheetah and to draw water from his vicinity.

His opponent will be

SomeoneWhosNameIWillSoonDecide: Who has something like a weaker version of Obliterations heat projection as well as enhanced leg strength.

How about Warmup? That sounds like a good name to me.

Well, mostly it's just that Breaker's only goal (when he's not Corrupted, that is) is to maintain order in a city jam-packed with destructive psychopaths. An Epic who sat quietly at his booth drinking water would be a rare and precious unicorn to him. He'd love him.

EDIT: Remember not to double-post. Or triple-post.

Changed it. You are right, he did have a lot of power. But then again, its sounding as if the whole city was surrounded by epics under SoulCaster's control.

Also, i was just trying to get whatever i could done. Before i had had a pretty nice post about him being deceived and stuff, but then I erased it. 2 times. It was enfuriating.

Yeah, no double posting. Got it.

Oh gosh...one page away from death. This calls for emergency poems about death. And maybe some images about ponies crying, if twi or Kobold have any.

I'd love to, at some point :)

I think if you lived in a city where random people with superpowers could murder you on a whim or tear down your neighborhood in a minor scuffle, the last thing you'd want to watch on your limited leisure time is more people with superpowers fighting on your TV screen.

I think most of the entertainment channels would be filled with nostalgic sitcoms or old classic films, like the westerns David watched at the foundry.

probably. Maybe some of the upper classes who are less likely to be killed by Epics or possibly to have seen the worst of Epic action might be interested, but mostly probably just Epics.

Well...umm...maybe the people did enjoy watching epics getting their calamity-gifted butts handed to them. After all..who DOESN'T like to see people fight? And think about It. Reckoners watching random epics fight would actually benefit them. What if the big ol' mean epic RandomGrapefruit comes to town? Easy! His weakness is pizza dressing! As seen on tv!!! Oh no! Prof! Look! SuicideTrashcan is out to get us!

"No worries, David you silly child! He is lactose intolerant and afraid of carrots! As seen on tv!!!

Leal, added quote wrong. :P

I think Epics would be very hesitant if there was a large enough chance that there weakness would be revealed. Imagine it- Epics are so insanely paranoid about their weakness that Mitosis is willing to kill everyone in Newcago on the off chance that they know his weakness. Steelheart is so paranoid that he does everything in a different room each day, surrounds himself with defences and has propaganda brigades spreading tales of his evil, just on the off chance that someone who doesn't fear the most well-known and powerful Epic on earth happens to attack him. Epics are super paranoid. Imagine an Epic's weakness being discovered by chance during a match, and televised the world over. Suddenly their weakness is out there and they cannot track down and kill everyone who knows it. I think they would be enraged enough to go on a rampage when they exit the Dreamstate and that is not good for anyone.

I think that we should retcon our plans a bit and make it so weaknesses do not work in the Dreamstate. After all, Soulcaster can manipulate every aspect of it already. And if he can manipulate and change powers, he can always set up matches with High Epics in a way that is still fun, or remove their PI's while in the Dreamstate. IT just occurred to me that Epics would be wary about being sent into areas that could contain anything, even their weakness, and they would have no way of controlling their exposure to it. And seeing other Epics get their weaknesses revealed on TV would probably be seen as too great a risk that no-one could counter without revealing their weakness to Soulcaster.

I suppose it depends on whether or not illusions can trigger weaknesses, technically speaking they're just in one giant interactable illusion, none of the objects actually exist. Epics don't need to be aware of the existence of their weakness for it to trigger so there's obviously some kind of objective system for checking whether they're exposed to it.
What do people think?

That is true, I hadn't been thinking of these worlds as pure illusion. But after all, that is all they are, isn't it? In that cases, weaknesses wouldn't work unless the Epic potentially placebo'd themselves into thinking it did. But they shouldn't since they would know that weaknesses don't work in the dream world.

I had taken that as a given. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think we've established just how Soulcaster's powers work.

-Do they need peoples' consent to work?

-Can they work on thousands of people on the same time?

-Do they include information that Soulcaster herself does not have (Epic weaknesses, for example?)

-Is Soulcaster male or female? :P

-Do they take place in real-time? And are their real bodies disconnected from the Trance or can they still be connected?

-Does she build them in her mind piece by piece, person by person? Or does it automatically spring into her mind once she has a subject and an idea, laws of physics and all?

-How is the audience usually situated inside of the Trance? Sidelines as a crowd? Invisible overhead?

If so, I think we'd be obligated by all the forces governing fandoms to cast Arthur Darvill as Vapor Snake.

Not exactly how I pictured him to look but if it's for shipping. :P

Also, upvote for bringing up Funtimes, Twi. Because she is my favorite epic of what i''ve read so far in the Oregon thread.

Well, after Big Al. #SausageMcmuffinsareSOcool.

Go ahead, try to ask Twi how he and his wife became the emperors of everything. (Well except sock puppets that is.)

What's left to do in Portland for the night?

I'm pretty excited for being able to play PP again and have learned my lesson not to retire him for the night 6 months early :P

Mainly the Mad Balloner post, Lightwards reacting, A Red post, at least one more from me to wrap up after that and potentially some talk about what to do with their prisoner

Yeah, no double posting. Got it.

Let's tripple post instead.

Depends a bit on the weakness involved. One could make an argument that weaknesses like Sourcefield's tied to an actual object wouldn't count, however the Epics behaviour should still give a very obvious cue to it being their weakness. However, some weaknesses like Regalia's and Newton's depend soley on information, so an illusion shouldn't matter to that type at all.

I'll take commentary for Savannah's fight. Does anyone else want to cocommentate? Or can I do it by myself?

It's not a sport event unless you have two commentors throwing trash talk around. :P

So. Our Illuminati overlords expressed dismay that this thread, which began with a pug, will soon be closed. Any votes for what cute things the pug(s) that open the next thread should be doing/wearing?

How about something SciFi themed, like jedi pugs?

How about Apo the best alarm clock in the (anime) world?

Talking about anime, I found out that there's essentially an anime with Shiny Sparkle as the protagonist, if Shiny Sparkle was the protagonist in a standard high school anime played for laughts.

Which anime? And does she still have her powers?

Nice!  Care to clarify where Chase is so I can have Rainmaker react?

Like Edge said, I think it depends on the weakness.  Weaknesses to physical objects (such as Kool-Aid) shouldn't work, but weaknesses involving sounds or states of mind (like Mitosis's and Steelheart and Regalia's weaknesses, respectively), probably still should.
