TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 Now, for the matter of Edgedancer's bribe. I wasn't sure exactly which pictures would convince him to spare us from Nighthound Jr., so I gathered a few. Do you think he'll like…. A pug enjoying Pringles? Three female pugs realizing they're gorgeous? A younger pug meeting his doppelgänger? Or Minnie and Max looking through vacation photos? If none of these please you, Edge, I have a video of a pug puppy eating lettuce. 5

Mckeedee123 he/him Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) hahaha it gets like that XD is it anything like "Mintberryyyy Crunch!" It's a guy whose power is to summon orange forcefields, and so now he's decided that orange is his motif. Orange T-shirt, orange swimming trunks, orange sunglasses (which he never takes off, even to sleep.) He's dyed his hair orange and has an orange Ipod that plays nothing but songs that contain the word "orange" in the title (aside from a small playlist of Heavy Metal music which he plays whenever he goes on a rampage.) He thinks that all of this stuff makes him incredibly awesome. Edited May 20, 2015 by Mckeedee123 5

(For instance, can he use them to fly, like Prof, or are they strictly defensive?)
Mckeedee123 he/him Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) I was thinking that he would be limited to maybe a range of 5-10 feet, and he couldn't change the shape after he casted them, but that he could move them around after casting. He can have 1 up at a time? (I hope this isn't sounding too overpowered) I pictured him being able to fly with them, yeah. (Don't be afraid to shoot me down here. I'm pretty open to change at this point.) Edited May 20, 2015 by Mckeedee123
Mailliw73 he/him Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) So Astoria is definitely not the place for him. I think Corvallis or the Dalles is the best. Probably the second. That's actually quite the opposite of Smasher's. His are blue, these are orange. Smasher can expand and contract them, but not move them. These are the opposite. Edited May 20, 2015 by Mailliw73

He can have up to 3 at the same time? (I hope this isn't sounding too overpowered) So Astoria is definitely not the place for him. I think Corvallis or the Dalles is the best. Probably the second. He definitely sounds like he'd fit in The Dalles best. (Astoria is where all the OP Epics go, so no, he doesn't sound too overpowered at all.) Is he limited to one shape, or can he cast one in, say, the shape of a chicken dressed like Leonidas fighting a Canadian? Can he make them small enough to fit in someone's veins and create something like a clot to give them a heart attack, or do the forcefields fritz out when they get that close to living matter, or can he just not make them that small?

That's... hmm. I'd say that the force fields have to have surface area of at least 1 square foot on the front end. The front end can be cast in any shape so long as it has the requisite surface area. They can't be cast inside of living matter but can be pushed into it, so he can shoot cleaver-like ones offensively. The farther away the force field is cast from, the less precision he has in shaping it. The "front end" is a 2-dimensional plane that it is practically unbreakable. The 2 inches behind it is a special state of matter made of the air that formerly occupied the space, and absorbs kinetic energy (so, for example, someone trying to run on the back end, well... wouldn't be able to, because the energy of their feet hitting the ground would be absorbed instead of sent back. It can also absorb the shock from falls (maybe up to a hundred feet or so) without sustaining serious injury. Edited May 21, 2015 by Mckeedee123

Not being able to expand or contract removes the most op part of forcefields (that they can squish people instantly be contracting around them). How fast can he move them? Could he smash people apart with the force of one hitting them or are they just fast enough to bowl them over without causing too much damage?

How about the maximum velocity of the field is 200 miles per hour divided by the surface area of the front end in square feet? Here's a new condition: Force fields are cast and moved relative to his current position. That means that the maximum velocity is relative to his velocity. If Crush was riding in a car, he could cast a 5x4 force field moving at 10 Mph plus his current velocity of 70mph ( I think that's kind of important to establish in fights where he'll be flying) Edited May 21, 2015 by Mckeedee123 1

I pictured him as sort of a beach bum who went around marking his territory with orange spray paint. He's pretty "mellow" unless provoked. He's got a little neighborhood which he considers his, and kills any Epic that tries to mess with him or the people who live there (and pay him taxes, which he uses to buy more orange spray paint) Edited May 21, 2015 by Mckeedee123
Kobold King he/him Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Sounds great! I pictured him as sort of a beach bum who went around marking his territory with orange spray paint. He's pretty "mellow" unless provoked. He's got a little neighborhood which he considers his, and kills any Epic that tries to mess with him or the people who live there. Here's the setting summary: Two years before the action of the RP, an Epic named Koschei the Deathless attacked The Dalles. Koschei was a healer, capable of healing others from any wound. However, once he'd healed a wound he could cause the same injury to reappear at any time. Koschei gathered a gang of Epics and began brutally murdering countless people, using his power to practically raise them from the dead and demand their loyalty. Koschei managed to completely gain control of The Dalles, wresting control from the National Guard unit stationed there. He began rule as a ruthless dictator, plotting to take over the whole of Oregon. Before his plans could be fully realized, however, a normal man named Remington Springfield discovered his weakness. Springfield shot and killed Koschei in a stand-off that has become legendary in part because of its significance, and in part because no one knows for sure what happened during their battle. Remington Springfield became a folk hero, but he quietly left the city to live with his in-laws in Portland. With Koschei dead, the National Guard moved back into town, and the commander of the unit declared martial law over the city. This commander was named Stephen Vondra. Vondra had no powers himself, but he and his soldiers managed to gain secure control over The Dalles. This control is maintained in part by the small team of Epics employed by the Guard, who are prohibited from using their powers while not on active duty. The corruption still manifests in these Epics, but as of yet all members of this team have remained loyal. There are other factions afoot in The Dalles, however. The Epic Quicksilver is a former hitman with the ability to manipulate metal, which he has used to devastating effect countless times. Fortunately Quicksilver has little desire to rule, and instead reigns as the king of the city's criminal underground. His gang is known as the Slivers, who are widely feared and hated in the city. For two years an uneasy peace has existed in The Dalles, but at the current time a chaotic and unpredictable element has been inserted. The city has been invaded by the Panda, an Epic with the power to control any organic matter. He is also afflicted with the delusional belief that he's been tasked by "The Radiant Panda" to create a utopia for panda bears--which he intends to accomplish by eradicating human settlements and filling them with his creations. He leads armies of once-ordinary men who have been mutated into horrendous panda-human hybrids, which wield wooden weapons created by their dark master. The Panda's armies run rampant through The Dalles as we speak, opposed by Vondra's Epic teams and a handful of newcomers to the city's political scene. The city stands at an important crossroads of its history--will Vondra succeed in creating a utopia for normal humans, freed from the widespread tyranny of Epics? Will the Panda take the city as his own, ruling not just the lives but the very flesh and blood of its inhabitants? Or will the city be torn asunder by the conflict? Well, that's the Question, isn't it? There are a lot of new players who have wandered into the city as random and unaligned Epics, but hopefully that gives all the essentials still. 3
