Especially when he made Arsenal's topiary.

"Zoning regulations in this area of the city prohibit large scale landscaping efforts, so--excuse me--Trimmer, will you stop calling me 'Arsey-arsey-Arsenal' long enough to pay attention to this?"

"Annnnnd.....FWOOSH! Haha, oh yeah, that's gonna burn all night! Anyone want some Arsey-Arsey marshmallows? No? Oh well, more for me! Heheh! Sorry, Arsenal, what were you saying?"

By the way, there's a Dalles Hurt and Heal going on now, if anyone wants to support their characters.

There is: Backtrack, Deathwish, Mistwraith, Shiny Sparkle, Quicksilver, MV, Frequency, Reader, and Taylor Swift

 No Edgerunner? :P

I really liked her post. I now am really liking Chase's character.

Me too, actually. I liked seeing her setup.

Worse than that.

Much worse.

You guys should be getting the next installment of Emma and Ethan's Adventures away from the Dalles tonight. It includes segments like "In Which Emma makes an accidentally awkward faux pas" and more backstory.

Awesome. I can't wait. :D

When I was writing that segment, I wrote something and only after finishing that paragraph did I realize the awkwardness of it. I decided to keep it in anyways and I think it actually helped. Keep that in mind when you read it. ;) Never discard accidental writing, I learned. :P

New Gregory post. That last part was meant as a lead-in for him to meet with IRL, just so you know Twi.

Sorry to be unspecific Edgedancer, only light can be sort of pulled towards him, and it owuld be a pretty small radius. Also how about the energy he takes in powers his agility boost? And would having him be immune to kinetic energy be too powerful?

given how his powers seem really passive, id probably decide against including kinetic energy. That opens up a whole other can of physics worms.

but I like the idea that his increased speed/agility/reaction time is empowered by the more energy he has.

New immigrant sounds good, considering Heatsink's power set, it might be a good idea to keep a low profile.

But I would also like to know, what kind of government is in place?

Edit: I am going to start reading through Corvallis now.

Essentially, the way Corvallis runs is that there is a circle of powerful Epics, all female, called the Queens of Corvallis. They are lead by Rainmaker, a weather Epic. Each Queen has a specific function and role in the city, some more useful than others.

Rainmaker: powerful weather Epic, keeps the city in nice weather unless she is angry (like now), a light drizzle and overcast skies are now in place over the city.

Euphoria: she keeps the humans of the city drugged with happiness. Mostly they chose to move here, knowing about her, choosing happiness and safety over freedom, danger and misery. She was kidnapped and forced to withdraw her happiness, so all the humans are suddenly angry at their servitude.

Chase: a speed epic who can 'tag' humans (not epics) and thus keep a track of everyone in the city. Someone dies, she'll know it.

Bubbles: creates forcefields. Maintains a huge bubble with a radius of 9 miles around Corvallis, enveloping the city, all the fields around it, and cutting Albany and several towns in half. All this area id 'Corvallis' now.

Cornucopia: can grow any object she plants. Supplies the city with everything it could need with field of objects all around the city.

Blossum: shoots lightning and breaths frost, and flies. Head of PR.

Buttercup: super strong and tough, and flies. Head of security.

They treat Epics basically like nobles. When an Epic moves in, they assess his useful its power is to the government and then give them a house, a job and a number of servants based on this.

Blackhoof spelled most of it out, but let me know if you have further questions.  Reading the thread should be sufficient to catch you up, as I think I did a decent job of setting the scene.

As for general tone, with Corvallis I'm hoping for some more intrigue and shenanigans, and (slightly) less of the all out flashy battle thing (that will come later).  This is a free form RP, so anything is possible, but the original intent was to have Euphoria's disappearance cause a slow devolution into complete and utter chaos (this is where the big flashy battles will come in, with smaller flashy battles proceeding them).

Right now, we have a Sanderson-inspired Vanilla rebellion in the works, several interlopers causing chaos (notably Phoenix, Converter, and Iconoclast), as well as the mystery of Euphoria's disappearance.

Other citizens include ToneDeath, a sound manipulator who works for Rainmaker's government, Hypno, a selfish hypnotist who mostly just likes killing people, but sometimes helps Rainmaker out in exchange for more slaves, and Kenshin, a combat focused epic who is currently neutral and new to the city.

You can find more information about Rainmaker and Euphoria (and their role in Corvallis) here.

Let me know if you need any more info :)

in fact, if you are known to the government then Rainmaker would probably send you against Phoenix once he reincarnates.

Awesome. Want me to end his intro with Gregory walking into his studio?

That depends on a few things: Is his desire to rebel well known? Would he know Gregory, and would Gregory know if he wanted to rebel? Would he have wanted to rebel even with Euphoria's happiness drug? If Gregory knew all of these things, then yeah, otherwise I'll do a post of Gregory searching around town a little bit and finding IRL after IRL's introduciton.

It wouldn't be well known, no, though his infrequent visits to Euphoria would be. I'd imagine that a dancer's refusal to be perpetually happy because it improved his performances--and his near-constant scowl--would be well known. Perhaps Gregory seeks him out to ask a few careful questions?

That sounds like an excellent idea. Gregory doesn't know IRL, but he knows of him, and might think that he has a small chance of getting his "inside woman" in the form of IRL.

I'm sure Sigmund Freud would have a lot to say about Emma's "faux pas" about their sleeping arrangements.

I'd like to tell Mr. Freud to shut up and enjoy the excellent writing. :D

Mailliw, just a note, you double posted that last segment. Just letting you know.  :)

Hahha he definitely would. :P It was totally an accident too. But then it reminded me of a character on Arrow and it just seemed to fit Emma perfectly.

Thanks. :)

Well...10 hours since a post. Seems wrong for some reason...

I'm working with Aonar on some Ozymandias stuff. He should be up and Blurring soon.

It's good to be back!

Full disclosure, 90% of the reason I just upvoted Edge's last Lucentia post was the icon. The other 10% was the awesome post. Well done on both!

Lucentia is a 100%, strictly certified Slontze. Licensed to be a Slontze in all forty-eight continental Fractured States and Canada.

If she jumped off of her ego and landed on her actual worth, not even her healing would let her survive the fall.

If opposites attract, then her ideal match is kind, thoughtful, generous, and probably lucky enough to have died years before having to meet her.

She makes me hope to heaven that Epics are sterile.

Lucentia, thy tongue outvenoms all the serpents of the Nile. And anywhere else, for that matter. In three thousand years an expeditionary crew to the planet Rimenight will discover a super-venomous drake-creature that likes to crawl down people's shirts and leave horrific toxic bites up and down their torsos. They will call this creature "The Not-Lucentia Drake," in the interest of looking on the bright side.

Nonetheless, I can't stop laughing at her icon.

Umm... thank you? I can tell you that the icon 100% wasn't the reason I upvoted the last MEE post, so I guess that only leaves the writing.

Don't get me wrong, the writing was great, but that icon just somehow fits. If I could I'd upvote it 100 times, 90 for the icon and 10 for the writing :P

Alright but in the sake of full disclosure Twi is the one that found the icon.

Well I guess I owe you another 9 and I owe Twi 90 then :P

Anyone else got anything left to do in Portland besides the attack on the Dominion? I might sneak another Neverthere scene in somewhere

I think I will wait until Converter has been captured to reincarnate - is he being taken to a secure location or incarcerated where he is?
