Here are my reasons: #1: They are both paranoid. #2: They are both poor rulers. #3: Both books are in the cosmere. #4: You have yet to see both of them at the same time. Once you have the facts, the conclusion is easy to deduce: Elhokar, tired of people silently criticizing his rule, seeks out the Wit, who constantly slips away to some place where nobody can find him. He asks the Wit to take him to this place, and Hoid drops him off in the Elantris system. Confused, Elhokar does his best to fit in, renaming himself Iadon and becoming a merchant.
