I think Tolkien said that no one could have, especially in that situation when starved and exhausted. (tolkien's letters for the win) Also, about Finrod... I would argue but full disclosure I don't remember who that is (I read it this summer but can't remember who that is For me, Sam and Frodo are the same level of heroic. Everyone loves Sam, but Frodo's story is sadder to me, especially in the movie, where after the Quest he lives alone in Bag End for like 3 years just being sad and missing the ring cause it's evil and messed with his head. When he goes west, Sam is happy with his wife and kids, he misses Frodo but he has a life to go back to. Frodo didn't, after the quest Okay I'll stop taking over the thread.

Spoiler Finrod is the goat he's from the Silmarillion and he first finds the men, helping them and training with them he goes with Beren and tries to help him on a hopeless mission to find a Silmaril Finrod challenges Sauron, an Ainur, and nearly beats him in a singing contest, but fails cuz mortal vs god when his crew is captured and imprisoned by Sauron, and werewolves come for him and Beren, he kills a werewolf with his bare hands, dying to save Beren ok, now I'm done also Tolkiens letters are so interesting 1
