Hmmm... Not sure, tracking her to Frequency will be hard since she's been doing a bit of flying, not sure how that would affect Backtracks tracking plus it's probably a fair distance so by the time they got their she may have moved on. Perhaps they'll just reach a point where Backtrack can see she's obviously corrupted and show MV so she'll postpone the search until she can figure out what to do?

"MV, are you very close to your sister?"

"Of course! Why would you even ask that?"

"I was just wondering... does she usually think about ruling cities and grinding her enemies into powder?"

"What? No, of course not."

"Ah. I think she might be having a bit of an off day, then."

None from me, did you have any plans with him? He could be one of Cornucopia's attendants, or just a soldier, or one of Rainmaker's attendants I suppose.

None so far. I just wanted to take the perspective of a Vanilla who's off the happiness level.

OOOOOOOHHHH maybe my character could be a leader of the riots! That would be interesting to write. Nevermind, voidus, you can kill the messenger all you want. :P

In other news, I think I've completely figured out a way to work Euphoria's back story into the RP!  Just need to work out some kinks.

With Euphoria's happiness power, how incapacitating do you guys think a full, rending level dose of happiness would be?  Like would people just sit there dazed, overwhelmed by all of the positive emotion?  In my head, I more just pictured it would make them super agreeable--they'd be fine with anything, as long as they keep feeling the burst of positive emotion, and have less thoughts about consequences, that sort of thing.

I know Euphoria sometimes used her happiness power to distract people while she used her revision power, but I'm not sure to what extent.  Feedback?

i think full-blast, 100% as powerful as Euphoria could do it, they would be knocked out temporarily by the overwhelming emotion, perhaps even killed or damaged permanently. So much happiness their heart stops, their brain fries. Certainly this could happen to the old, frail and infirm.

Maybe a little less than that, they would probably just be in a daze, ubavle to respond to outside stimulus.

Then another level down, they are sort of dazed, but able to hear and understand what is happening around them, and they would probably just do whatever you told them to.

Depends how powerful you want her to be in her glory.

Ah, excellent idea, just noticed that Edge got a Baxter post up so it would be good timing I guess.

On that topic, nice post Edge! If MV follows in her sisters footsteps and accidentally goes homicidal then Baxter is with Autumn at the top of her 'try not to murder' list. :P

Thanks? That's... That's precious, really. :P

So, instead of being afraid of the death of her sisters (and thereby binary in terms of losing powers), the event of them almost dieing wound up linking to ice skating in her mind. So she's now afraid of ice skating. Whenever she is ice skating, she loses her powers. I'm also thinking I might just make it being on frozen bodies of water, as that's more doable (getting her to ice skate against her will seems rather difficult in comparison to the weaknesses in the novels).

I was under the impression that Megan was using them during her time with the Reckoners (wasn't there a point where she goes out in public with Steelheart?) though I must admit it's been quite a long while since I read the novel. In addition, Megan's powers are actually incredibly powerful, and I'm surprised Brandon hasn't showcased them in such ways yet like he has with his other magics. That all being said, I wasn't trying to imply a large percentage of Epics were that way, but certainly a larger percentage than 2 Epics total.

I am confused by your last statement. Do you want me to change their profiles in such a way, or are you okay with it? To be honest, the only reason I included it is because it allows room for doubt between the sisters. This way it is more than feasible that they be turned against each other given the right circumstances. That might not happen, but it allows room for such things.

Something with frozen bodies does sound more managable you're right on that account. Pretty sure that, if you can force her to ice-skate you don't need her weakness anyway.

The books did make a point out of her mood swing after using her powers, if she used them frequently that wouldn't really make sense. Plus, there is always the risk of being detected. (I have to admid that I'm not entirely sure either if she made an apperance as Firefight before dying, though given that she had to leave the city for great amounts of time, she wouldnn't have been able to make apperances very often.)

Depends on what you measure power. After resurrection, clearly she's powerful and the books don't hide it. Appart from that what she can do boild down to effective but limited illusions. She may do so by opening windows into another dimension but we can't really measure how much power that takes. For all we know with Epic powers this could be as easy as counting down possibilities.

The percentage doesn't really matter here. What would matter is how much they use their powers and to what extend.

I meant it in the "We play fast and loose already, so do whatever pleases you"-way.

I saw and adjusted.  I think it worked well!

On an unrelated note, what do you guys think about time jumps?  I was thinking that including a few in Corvallis could help move the plot forward (especially since Iconoclast is going to need to time to save up on ghouls).  I'm thinking we could just wait for opportune point between scenes and then jump forward a few days.  What do you guys think?

First, here's the most up to date timeline for our RP (well the character's backstory mostly :P ).

2013 A.D.: Calamity appears in the night sky. 2013 was Steelheart's publication date, and thus was selected as the year Calamity first appeared.

2014: Roughly a year later, the first Epics begin to manifest powers. Most early Epics wear masks or otherwise attempt to conceal their identities.

2014: The recently married Jeff and Marigold Carlisle join a military research facility dedicated to studying Epics.

2014: Milton Towren discovers his illusionist abilities.

2014: Thomas Cardinal discovers his necromantic abilities.

2014: Rita Blue discovers her Epic powers.

2014: Dave Elwes comes to his powers

August 2015: Alexandra Hawkins discovers her space-warping abilities.

2015: Michael Jäger discovered his Epic powers, bolting from his home town shortly afterwards and taking his sister with him.

September 24th, 2015: Annexation Day. Steelheart seizes control of Chicago, Illinois with the Great Transference. Nightwielder plunges the city into perpetual gloom. Date chosen as the novel's publication date. If anyone knows the actual date in canon, don't hesitate to let me know.

2015: U.S. government passes the Capitulation Act, declaring all Epics exempt from the law. By this point other Epic despots are believed to have seized power.

2015: Three months after Michael's Epic awakening, the younger Jäger sibling awakens to her powers.

2015: The Epics SparkCloud and Hardwire wage war in Portland, Oregon, destroying the city's central power grid.

2015-2016: Altermind seizes a portion of Portland, founding the urban center of Thoughttown.

2015: Frank Ponte gains electric and flying powers and begins working with Altermind.

2015: Jonah Trumble leaves Newcago, taking the name Chicago Joe.

2016: With no evidence of Reckoner existence prior to the Capitulation Act, this is possibly the founding year of the Reckoners.

February 2016: Steve Lawrence discovers his past-seeing abilities.

Spring 2016: Pixie's Lantern is founded.

2016: The Capitulation act begins affecting the effective running of the Carlisle's lab. The researchers and military personell shift their base of operations to somewhere off the books to prevent reprisals.

2016: Cipher gains powers.

2016: Black Jaguar and Hawkwing gain powers.

Feburary 3rd 2017: Bloody Mary discovers her blood-controlling powers.

2017: The Trattner family comes to Portland. By this point CorpseMaker's gang has become a powerful force within the city.

2017: Scorch gains powers and works for Altermind.

2017: Metalmech is recruited by the Destructors(?)

2017: BusDriver begins treking around the country in his buses in search of a more permanent home.

2018: The Epic Möbius founds the city of Calamityville, situated in a pocket universe stolen from north California.

2019: Shortly after his eighteenth birthday, Nathan Sperry is contacted by casino recruiters; hired after first interview.

2020: War Smasher joins the Destructors.

2020: Capture of the Energy Epic who will later destroy the Carlisle's laboratory.

2021: Emma Runes discovers her friction abilities.

2021: Marigold Carlisle manifests her powers.

Winter 2021: Koschei the Deathless begins his short-lived conquest of The Dalles, Oregon.

Early 2022: Reader assists Remington Springfield by betraying Koschei's weakness to him.

2022: Sightline discovers his teleportation powers.

2022: BusDriver finds the Dalles, and begins to reside there.

2022: Baxter arrived in the Dalles.

July 2022: Energy Epic destroys the Carlisle's research facility, Purple Phoenix manifests his powers and dies for the first time, resulting in the formation of the Protector personality.

Autumn 2022: The Jägers attack on Astoria. Lucentia decided she had enough of travelling hrough the country and settled there, turning a good chunk of the city around the coast into her private "diamond gardens." Nighthound made his leave shortly afterwards, in the incident that also cost Lucentia her right arm.

Winter 2022: The Metal was released from his imprisonment and Deathgale joined Astoria.

March 2022: Remington Springfield moves to Portland.

2022: Cipher goes to the Dalles.

Early 2023: Mommy leaves Astoria and heads to Portland, picking up children along her way.

May 2023: Impact and MV manifest their abilities.

Late August/Early September 2023: Jade Delancey receives her powers, flees Seattle after sister's death

September 2023: A steady influx of High Epics floods Portland. Turf wars begin in earnest. What Happened in Portland begins.

Also September 2023: Timeport comes to his powers and betrays the Reckoners.

2024: Latest possible point of Oregon's total destruction.

2025: Death of Steelheart at the hands of David Charleston

Going by the decision that it's tuesday we probably have the evening/night of the 5th september (possibly 12th) 2023 on every thread except maybe Corvallis.

The problem with time jumps is that currently we do have a connection between most locations. Backtrack tightly connects Portland and the Dalles, meaning those two currently can't time skip without messing that arc up.

Astoria is more loosely connected to Portland through Lucentia, slight time jumps may be doable but nothing major.

Corvallis is still free to do whatever it wants.

Well if it made Lightsong  into a Returned, then I couldn't be that bad, right?

But it didn't, it only picked his name.

Sounds good to me. Let me know when you want to do it.

As long as his "special mission" doesn't mess with things, as soon as I can get to it. So, somewhere around the weekend?

Should I put up a post for Arsenal, or shall we give Shiny Sparkle a chance to get guns pointed at her?

One post of Shiny Sparkle (nothing specific everything Shiny Sparkle should be enough :P ) coming right up. (Although, my writing speed is a bit lower than you guys.)

Also Baxter appreciating Scribbler, coming right along. Voidus, could Scribbler also create bandages and antiseptics, plus how does she react to head petting and hot chocolate?

She could indeed, any particularly uncommon medicines she'd have trouble with since if she doesn't really know what it is/ what it does she wouldn't be able to make it too easily.

From Baxter she'd be pretty happy with a head pat, and since she's not corrupted too much yet she'd love a hot chocolate, because only truly evil Slontzes could not love hot chocolate :P

This is obviously the real pattern behind the Reckoners hits, Davids guesses were all just a cover for something only he and Prof knew, any Epic who doesn't like hot chocolate must be eliminated with all haste. :P

Their argument about Regalia actually centered around the fact that Regalia only liked her cocoa when it had marshmallows in it. Prof was keen to assassinate her for her snubbery of the pure beverage, while David felt that it was a sign that she was resisting her darker, cocoa-hating nature. :P

New Chase post. In case you hadn't guessed, her weakness is:

Being important. It terrifies her. The only thing that prevents her weakness from constantly going off is how she knows she's redundant. And for now, she's keeping it under control because she knows she's not that important. That as long as someone else is still important, she doesn't matter.

Important, or in charge? Important can encompass almost anything; you could argue that the average minimum-wage McDonald's employee is important to that restaurant because of the resources invested in training them and because if they quit, the other employees will have to suffer until a new employee is trained. It's a cool weakness, but I think being made the leader of other leaders (not vanillas, as she currently is) would work better mechanically.

Also, your move with Chess. ;)

In charge sounds better. She just says she's afraid of being "important." It's seperate, though she doesn't know.

That was awesome. So if I change my last name to "Glass" I can be an insane matter manipulator?

And a Chase segment is coming up later today. Probably.

No, you'd be a cyclic weather manipulator. Change your surname to "Delancey" and you've got a chance at matter manipulation.
