Exalted Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Instead of watching the Super Bowl today, I was at school writing out the master code for our team's 2017 FRC robot. And it works! We can drive it around and shoot the plastic wiffle balls and even scoop them up if we want to! It's an amazing feeling. Now we just have to wait for the mechanical team to actually finish building the final bot and upload the code onto that... 1

We think so, but we haven't managed to rig up a contraption to test that yet. If not, we'll have to start worrying about the robot weight, and that's no fun.

Here in the US, American football is the Big Game. High schoolers play it, drawing enormous crowds in some towns; college students can get decent scholarships for playing well and keeping their grades up; and many people have a team they follow and root for, usually the team from their home state (Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin, Seattle Seahawks in Washington and much of the Pacific Northwest, New Orleans Saints in Louisiana, etc.). From what I hear, Americans follow American football the way people around the world might follow soccer (or football, if you prefer). The Super Bowl is THE final game of the sports year. All football season long, the national teams play one another, culminating in the playoff games where the final two teams are chosen to play one another in the Super Bowl. It's a huge spectacle, with TV stations all over the country broadcasting the game live and companies bringing out their best commercials for the year, since ad space during the Super Bowl is very expensive. A well-known performer is selected to put on a show halfway through the game, and they always make sure it's a big spectacle too—for the past decade or so, halftime performers have used light-up movable stages that might flash rainbow colors, or be in the shape of a guitar, or what have you. Lady Gaga used pyrotechnics, a fancy stage, backup dancers, and drones that formed the shape of the American flag in the sky behind her. Of course, not everyone is interested in the game. I usually just watch for the commercials and the halftime show; and this year, I just watched the commercials and the halftime show as they were released online. But even people who don't really watch football the rest of the year might throw a Super Bowl party, complete with foods like guacamole and taco dip, pizza rolls and lots of beer. (Or not, if you don't drink.) It's a time to get together with friends and watch the two best teams of the year battle it out, watch funny commercials, or watch both. TL;DR: It's the one day out of the year where most of America pretends to care about football, watch funny commercials and eat party food. 3

I wouldn't give her my attention until a MTV awards show one night(maybe some other award show?) where she performed Paparazzi and she won me over. She is talented and one of the better performers to come out of music in a long time now.

That is by far the best score I've gotten on a test for this course the entire year. It's been a very bad year with me and stats, but I think I might finally be getting a bit better at it!!! 6
