The space station MIR passed over Louisiana and as it was directly overhead another space satellite crossed in view going the opp direction.

So you got to see two space stations at the same time, basically?

@Briar King Did you need any magnification (binoculars, telescope, etc) in order to see the space stations and distinguish them from stars and other stuff in the sky?

I happened to be looking at that moment with binocs and when I realized what was going on I shouted out "whoa a satellite just passed by also!" And my old man who was looking naked eye said he saw that to. My ex, kids, & aunt also saw the Sat naked eye. MIR is as bright as Venus in the sunlight and it clips across the sky in about 2 mins so it's very easy to track eyes only.

More or less yeah. The station and a random unmanned communication/weather/spy? Satellite.

I buy most of my stuff at Walmart, but I have sensitivities to artificial additives, so there's a few things I need to get from places like Trader Joes. Of course, while I was there today, I learned that several of their items are cheaper than they are at Walmart, so that's where I'll go for those things.

My mom's on paleo so we have to go to places like FreshMarket every once in a while to get her some stuff she needs.

My Gov teacher had everyone bring in cake today for extra credit to represent types of federalism (I don't really get it, but okay) and we're having a cake day and it is storming awesome!

Also, I am rapidly losing focus as my sugar high goes on ^_^

You and I have differing definitions of "sugar high"...

Got back from our first marching competition. We got straight ones. That's real good. :D

We stopped by Braum's for lunch afterwards, and since there's a little grocery store section of the place, some people ended up with interesting purchases. A friend of mine got a half-gallon of apple juice and Nilla wafers. Someone had a bunch of bananas they were handing out. Another person almost bought a cheesecake.

All in all, a satisfying trip. :D

Donald got to stay home. I was playing Bartholomew the Baritone yesterday. :P Today I played Terence the Trombone. He's warming to me. Still a bit finicky, but so are all instruments when you first get 'em.

It's finally getting cold!

After record temperatures this summer, it's getting cold again! Yay!

I love the cold.

So do I, love the cold I mean. At least you can get warm then. In the heat, it seems impossible to get cold

I would rather be in the cold and bundle up than be in the warm (?) and try to cool off.

I got a promotion at work! I got put on the quality assurance team at my job, so I can finally get something on my resumé that says I'm more than some schmuck who had one crap job.

The pay isn't any better, and may actually be worse, but I get more hours now. But maybe in 6 months or a year I can go find a better job that pays well, rather than this decent job that pays poorly.

I was only here because the place has high turnover for management, so I got the promotion in a year. I was honestly expecting six months.

No! It's too cold. The worst part is that now it is cold outside and inside.

And I only have two jackets, a thin one that I usually wear and a big pufffy one that I rarely use. Why do people have so many jackets?

Man, I wear suit coats when it gets cold. My heavy coat when it's really cold.

I...do not handle cold well.

Seriously, we are entering into the half of the year where the only times I feel warm are in the shower and in bed snuggled in with the husband and heated mattress pad.  And even in the second one, I still have to wear socks to bed because my feet don't thaw out until halfway through the night.

That's my problem, really.  My hands and feet get very cold very easily; it doesn't matter how much I bundle up, my toes are still going to be made of ice.  I can actually be sweating underneath my layers and still have chilled feet, and if my feet are cold then I am miserable.

No clue. I own two jackets myself (a pleather jacket and a full-blown winter one), and that's more than enough. If the weather warrants something between the two, then I just add gloves, the sleeves I use for woodworking, and a scarf (on top of the pleather jacket). If it's extremely cold, I just use the above combo with my winter jacket. Generally speaking, that's all I need.

My new nephew was born today!  And he's already a sassy little thing.  The expression on his face when being posed for the camera says very clearly, "I am unimpressed with these shenanigans. This crem dung will stop forthwith!"

Winter is coming. Not getting cold feet, are you?

Gratz on the nephew. Have fun spoiling him.
