Congratulations! :D

I Googled "baptism cakes," unsure of what to expect. The results were...

well….

beautiful, and perfect….if you're getting baptized as an infant.

Since you are not getting baptized as an infant, I just Googled "awesome cakes."

Enjoy!

Thanks! :D

I wouldn't say no to either of the infant baptism cakes, but they all look awesome. :P

I'm back on 17th Shard after a weeklong absence! Yaaay!

Of course, I'm going to be off for two weeks pretty soon, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

Age of Ultron: I honestly liked the first movie better. But mini Hawkeyes... awwwwww!

Well, I've been baptized now. :)

Also, one of the ladies at the church baked a gluten-free strawberry cake in celebration, and it was awesome. :D

Congrats!  Are you a lawyerly type or a good solid paralegal like me?  (My husband is an attorney, so we cover both.)

Wow I haven't checked this in a while.

I'll be a lawyer-lawyer. Unfortunately, Saskatchewan has not yet jumped on the paralegal train. Hopefully we do soon, so legal services can become more affordable.

Congrats Kobold!  That's super exciting.  I was baptized almost two years ago, and even though like you I always felt like I was a part of the church, it still felt pretty special.  Also, that cake sounds amazing!

I just got the best internship ever: I get to dress up like an alien and shoot little children with fake guns. And in 3 months or so I'll actually be paid for it.  :D

Which is not even counting the other job I have right now, which is taking apart legos for $10 an hour for my grandma, which means no taxes.

I love my employment situation right now

LDS mid-week church activities. :)

Oh, I've heard of those. I wish the sort of churches I grew up in did more of that sort of thing. We had church service every Sunday and Wednesday, but that's not the same as--like Slowswift mentioned--swing dancing.

They're usually awesome, and also sometimes spiritual. One of the many great things about the LDS church is, I think, that the combination of awesome and spiritual happens very often. :)

Just make sure they teach you the right steps! Threaten a zoot- suit riot (riot!) otherwise!

This service announcement brought to you by someone who found out a couple weeks ago that the swing steps that were taught to him years agon were incorrect  <_<

Swing dancing! I can do that!

Anyway. I found a movie version of Hamlet on YouTube today (Shakespeare is awesome) starring David Tennant! It gets better. I called my brother over to watch and my mom actually had to tell us to stop watching Hamlet and go to bed.

I love my family.

Also, you should all go watch it. It's fabulous.

Today, at TwiLyght's suggestion, I mixed up our usual scrambled eggs routine with pepper and sour cream as opposed to cheese and sausage.

Since I'm posting this here rather than on the "Having a Bad Day" thread, you can gather that the experiment was a success. :D

Glad it worked. :D

Hey guys! Today (June 28 here in the Philippines) is Tau Day! As a tauist, allow me to evangelizepromote the Way of the Tau. Please read the Tau Manifesto to learn all sorts of cool facts about the circle constant. Or watch the video Pi is (still) Wrong by mathemusician Vi Hart. Or read our very own Chaos's post in praise of tau.

Today I'll be eating pies in pairs, because the central dogma of tauism is that there are two pis in tau. You guys should do the same! *omnomnomnom*

I just pre-ordered Calamity for my Kindle. :D It will be auto-delivered to my device on February 16th. Give or take a week, according to Peter Ahlstrom.

And now, I wait.

I'm sure we'll find something to occupy our time until then.
