Wyrmhero he/him Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Until I step in and say JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Excellent work! Was my description terrible enough? Edited June 24, 2015 by Wyrmhero
ThirdGen Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I wanted to say Castlevania so badly. Strangely enough, they... don't really say where the French-surnamed Belmonts come from. So! On with the show. A stalwart subordinate tries to keep his captain from making a terrible mistake at the janitor's request. 1
ccstat he/him Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Just to clarify, is it the captain or the subordinate who follows janitorial direction? (Aside: It strikes me again how odd some sentences are. That's yet another one I doubt has been composed before.) First thought was Don Quixote, but that doesn't actually fit.

The captain would be the one to take the advice, and the subordinate wants to prevent that.
RandomRevival he/him Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) Pokemon??? Edited June 25, 2015 by Random_illuminati
ThirdGen Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 It is not Pokemon. Whoops - neglected this for a bit. The subordinate wants to keep the captain from discovering the terrible secret of Earth.
Delightful Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 So the janitor asks the captain to discover earth, and the subordinate isn't happy about it.... Is this Star Trek or battlestar glalactica or something? (I havent seen either so )
ThirdGen Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) The janitor has an item from Earth that the subordinate cannot allow to exist. Edit: When you get the answer, you'll be FLOORD. Edited June 28, 2015 by ThirdGen
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) Wall-E!!! Auto is trying to stop the captain from seeing Wall-E and Eve's Plant! Edited June 28, 2015 by The Only Joe 3
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Hmm. . . A group of friends discover there is a murderer among them, and take drastic actions to find them.
Kasimir he/him Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Hmm. . . A group of friends discover there is a murderer among them, and take drastic actions to find them. Every game of Sanderson Elimination ever played? 3
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Your move Kas. I was hoping people would overthink that one.
Kasimir he/him Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Your move Kas. I was hoping people would overthink that one. Whoa there. If that helps, I was only joking! I didn't think that'd actually be the answer! Man comes back from the dead only to discover there's a crowd in his head, and people want to drink his blood.

Is this that obscure-ish Sanderson short? It just occured to me that I'm really not very good at this game.

I'm not very good at this either, so no worries Alas, it is not. It is a book by a different author So: Hint #1: It is not by Brandon Sanderson. Hint #2: It is set in contemporary London. Pestis the Spider she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Any more hints, maybe? Because the whole thread stopped, and I have no idea. O.o Is it a book?
Kasimir he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Any more hints, maybe? Because the whole thread stopped, and I have no idea. O.o Is it a book? It's a book: it's urban fantasy, and part of a trilogy.
Pestis the Spider she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Nah, the only thing I can think of is The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack by Mark Hodder, but it's not set in contemporary London, but Victorian London, so that's not it. I'm so bad at this game. 1

I'm so bad at this game. I'm either really bad at describing things, or really bad at picking stuff people'd have heard about. A few more hints: the people who want to drink the protagonist's blood include his former teacher, a sorcerer. The crowd in his head are entities of magic known as the 'electric angels.'
little wilson she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Google tells me it's probably A Madness of Angels. 1
Kasimir he/him Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Google tells me it's probably A Madness of Angels. Gott sei Dank. Your move, Cursor.
little wilson she/her Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Gott sei Dank. Your move, Cursor. Crap. This happens every time. A man who is on unfriendly terms with his ruler leaves, and the ruler, fearing treachery or worse, has the man's family killed.
