At least she gives her Pokemon a nice cottage* to live in, rather than stuffing them in a teensy little ball. :P

*that may or may not have a lemonade faucet

Yeah... Lightwards' Pokemon wouldn't be anywhere near as well off.

Revolution needs to be something that could use Solarbeam though.

Can Flareon use Solarbeam? I confess that I never played any of the games besides Pokemon Colosseum, where Flareon was not available. (I used to adore my Pokemon pocket encyclopedia, though.)

It would be her standard practice in hopes the Pokemon would all come to her.  :P

At some point, I may or may not post something about Pokemon that makes no sense. I, um…would you believe me if I said I wasn't allowed to watch the show as a kid and have gained almost all of my knowledge of the mythos through cultural osmosis and Google?

No?

Okay, I never watched the show because it was too mainstream. :P

Mrs. Voidus wasn't allowed either, on one of our first dates I rectified the matter and we marathoned the Indigo league and ate Spring rolls the whole day. I recommend you do the same because Pokemon is awesome :P

History will vindicate me. Or... something will, at any rate. Something's gotta vindicate me, right? :P

I don't know if you want to be vindicated.

That's both good advice and one of the sweetest dates I've ever heard. :)

5 years later and for some reason she still puts up with me :P

You can't give me a multiple choice backstory like that, TwiLyght! I don't know what to believe any more.:P

I'd believe either of those stories. The anime has steadily lost appeal to me as I grew older, but I still find the base concept fascinating--human beings gain the ability to capture animals of god-like magical power, which have entirely taken over the world's ecosystems. We then pit these creatures into gladiatorial combat with one another.

The Orre setting of Pokemon Colosseum was especially cool, since unlike the Japanese setting most of the games take place in, Orre was modeled off of Arizona. It had an appropriate feel; think Old West, but with outlaws and lawmen who wild magical pocket monsters against each other. It was awesome.

Not unless it's taught I don't think, there's a Leafeon though, in one of the hated later generations but I am partial to Eevee too.

It was the first one, actually. When it first came to the US when I was a kid, I had a friend—a couple of friends, actually—who really loved the show. They told me about some of the basic ideas, and I fell in love with all the cute critters browsing through an encyclopedia at Costco….but when I asked my parents if I could watch it, they said no.

I'd still steal a glimpse at the encyclopedia now and then. Eevee was adorable.

Now that I know how many fans there are and it's already kind of started I'm going to have to insist that characters go through mandatory poke-fication in addition to ponification :P

A sad story. The anime wasn't that great--not the episodes I saw, at least--but the creatures were awesome and lit my young and fertile imagination like a match to a bed of straw.

Eevee is like the pug of the Pokemon universe. And even better, all of its evolutions are both adorable and badchull. :D

I was going to say Lightwards would be Sceptile, but I can't find a picture of Sceptile that looks bitter enough. <_<:P

So that's why I liked it so much! And you're right—all of the evolutions I saw were adorable. :D But now I can't stop picturing a pug with the same evolutions….a psychic pug? A flame pug? I don't know if the world is ready for that. :P

Yeah, all the pictures Google gave me made it look way way way too happy. :P

Nighthound however isn't allowed a pokemon, no pokemon deserve to be tainted by association with him.

Yeah I think Lightwards would be a trainer, specializing in ghost pokemon perhaps?

Perhaps Nighthound could be Lightwards' trusty Gengar or Houndoom?

I think a psychic pug would spend most of its time reading her owner's mind to see when the next meal time is. And good luck hiding a hamburger from such a scamp.

I never watched or got into Pokemon either. But I did play the card game with my cousins and I have a couple of the video games. Eevee was my favorite too! :D

In terms of Pokemon, I think Funtimes would be mew, just lightheartedly flying around but secretly possessing world-altering powers.

Everytime I say I've played Pokemon, people Ask me which one, and I say Mystery Dungeon. They just glare at me after that.

Thanks. :) Props to you for the idea and for the Death Racers. Twi had the idea behind the Slayer, so credit for those ideas goes to them. And thanks to Joe for permission to "send anything at all" that I want to the Dominion. :P

NP! Now I get the chance to Corrupt Murphy again!

I've never understood what was so wrong about Mystery Dungeon. Would anybody care to enlighten me? Preferably with a Comic or Fanfic?

Nothing particularly, but other than Red, Blue, Yellow, Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Stadium I don't consider any of the others real pokemon games, I like my original 151 pokemon and that's that! :P

I played until the third generation, after that I didn't keep up anymore. I remember Snap, fond childhood memories of throwing toxic gas granades at pokemons to force them into positions that have a higher artistic value.

Mailliw not to nitpick an awesome post but you said Chi can fuse at most 3 animals without it turning into a random mess of parts but the Slayer has 7~8 combined into it and the Death Racers 4 each. And how many Kuduntons are there?

Quicksilver would either be an Aggron(Steel Type), or a Dialga(Dragon/Steel)

Fade would be a Ghost/Fighting Type(Which doesn't exist), or maybe a Lucario(Fighting/Steel)

And for some reason I see Sandman as a Squirtle.

Jeff/Dark Phoenix/ Penumbra would be a Dodrio(A three headed bird.)

Vondra would be a Tauros(Normal type)

There's so many to do!

Not exactly Oregon related, but this is the description of Banette, a Ghost-type pokemon.

"Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body

It is seen in dark alleys."

It looks like this:

The DA has officially invaded the Pokemon Universe.

I think using Nighthound and Timeport as your standards for morality results in a slightly skewed system, where not testing your new machine gun on a crowd of disaster victims could win you the Nobel Peace Prize. :P

In that case I think I just won a couple of Noble Peace Prizes today, huzzah.

Would covering Lightwards in gems or treating Backtrack's wounds gain or lose me a Noble Price?

Since I stumbled across that Pokemon comic a few pages back, I've imagined her like this:

Shelly_art.png

Which I have absolutely no justification for. :P

I see that Blackwave has his crew dress in style. :P

Reader could be blue, he's already got all the snarky comments down and I could definitely see him saying 'smell ya later' :P

Backtrack would be a bug-catcher with a metapod that only knows 'harden' :P

But Metapods can still turn useful after evolving, so that's a no-go. (Then again same counts for Magikarp.)

Perhaps Nighthound could be Lightwards' trusty Gengar or Houndoom?

Yeah, Houndoom seems the best choice for Nighthound.

Sableye might be the best fit for Lucentia.

The Metal might be the most high leveled Pangoro in exsitence.

I bet Lightwards would love the fossil pokemon, most of all Tyrantrum

On the note of completely unnecessary research that no one really cares about, assuming their web-page is complete, the Oregon zoo in Portland doesn't have the number of animals to sustain some of Chi's creatures. (For example the zoo has only five eagles, Mailliw has already used at least three of those and no kudus or antelopes in general. They got a non specified number of gazelle though.)

Didn't chi have contacts who were importing more animals to him or something?

Reading all the Chi posts the second newest post I missed this line.

He called his contacts across the country and arranged for some new animals to be brought to him.

(Although I still don't know if there really would be enough Epics naivé with money to buy animals from an Epic than can mind control them, so he could purchase a large enough quantity of rare animals for it to matter.

While I'm at it with the bad stuff: As currentlyy written in the Chi post the Protector Pug is impossible. He's made from at least five different animals (realistically six to give him the ability to draw his claws in) and Chi didn't take time for the dozens of dogs he created, so they should be a random mess of traits.

Joe can you tell me where the bank Corpsemaker used is located? I can't find the old map for the live of me.

Protector Pug's cuteness laughs at your logic. :P

In seriousness: I've left her abilities vague enough that whatever isn't completely essential can be cut with no detriment (for instance, pugs are already extremely loyal, so giving her extra loyalty isn't necessary; enhanced claws could be sufficient as pigs are good at avoiding scratching people). That would leave room for the most important ones for Sam's scenario: enhanced strength and intelligence.

Additionally, if the protector dogs were given traits specific to various situations and distributed accordingly--Protector Pug sent to a girl like Sam, with a more powerful husky sent to Angel--it might help.
