Well, the time has nearly arrived. Next Wednesday marks the official passing of the year 2014 Anno Domini.

This year will never come again. Unless, of course, the universe does indeed follow a circular model of time. Or if a future supervillain invents some sort of chrono-ray that turns back history. But assuming that neither of these possibilities are in any way accurate, we must conclude that the past is behind us, and a bold new future is stretched out ahead of us.

With this in mind, I'm taking my hand at the time-honored tradition of the New Years Resolution. Over the course of the year 2015 A.D., I intend to have made the following improvements to my life:

  • To write more;
  • To finish my labors quickly and efficiently without procrastination;
  • To wake up early in the morning;
  • To eat healthily;
  • To have made other necessary character improvements without waiting till 2016;
  • To have passed 10, 000 reputation points on the 17th Shard.

Those are my goals. What about you lot? Got anything planned for the new years? Maybe read more quality literature? Lose some weight? Run for public office? Finally invent that chrono-ray you've been putting off?

  • To have passed 10, 000 reputation points on the 17th Shard.

You really thought you needed to make that a goal? Seriously? You'll probably pass the 10,000 mark by Valentine's Day. :P (Though I do agree with the "write more" goal. :))

My goals:

  • To make at least 50 percent progress on the rough draft of my WIP (as I do not outline and am usually not sure what all will happen from page to page, figuring out when I have reached the halfway point will be difficult),
  • To find a good job in a state that is not this one,
  • To avoid looking at upvotes on my RP posts as much as possible,
  • To do well enough in my library internship to impress my superiors, and learn as much as I can about the day-to-day running of a public library in order to
  • Assist the Free Kingdoms in their quest for freedom of information, as well as to
  • Figure out the whole living-on-my-own thing.

I'm….not sure how much of an issue the last one will be, honestly. I've never done it before (living at home was a more pragmatic decision during college and grad school) so I'm planning ahead and hoping for the best.

I've never been one to do New Year's Resolutions, but this year will be different. I have three:

1) Run my first marathon, the Marine Corp Marathon here in DC. This is primarily my vector for losing weight, since just saying "I want to lose 25 lbs." is too vague since it doesn't say how to do it.

2) Find a new job in international development that will let me do more work abroad

3) Celebrate Pi Day like it's never been celebrated before: √-1 23  π

This year's version is the closest approximation to the actual value of Pi that we'll ever see in our lifetime: 3.1415. Thus, 3/14/15 will be epic. (Rounding doesn't count, because pi is continuous, otherwise if we rounded, one could argue that 3/14/16 would be a closer approximation since the 5th decimal is 9).

Well, I have a long-standing Resolution, from 2010, that by 2020 I'll have completed (and hopefully, published) a novel. Since I still haven't written anything, though, I think this year I might need to start working on that.

Besides that stretch-goal though...

I'm planning on changing my diet and eating more healthily, as well as working out more (read: start working out).

I'm also considering whether or not I should start making a serious effort to pass my driving test and start a relationship, so.. I guess that's on the list.

Also, I want to watch more MLP, because ponies.

I have a couple of major new year resolutions:

1) finish sixth grade piano and learn the full version of let it go

2) try to get at least 1000 rep points on 17s

3) read all the Cosmere books :)

4) finish a book I'm working on

5) try to get at least 100 subscribers on my YouTube channel.

I've never made a New Year's Resolution before. In fact, I'd never heard of it until this year (Yes, I do live at the bottom of a well. Panda's can live in any habitat, provided there's a decent supply of bamboo). Well, here goes!

1. To procrastinate less.

2. To improve in League of Legends.

3. To finally get a girlfriend.

4. To be able to work out an effective work schedule that can accommodate for unseen circumstances.

5. To be a better person.

Hey...I've got some of these too!

1. To transition from worldbuilding to actual story-writing.

2. To pass my General Relativity class (Seriously, that stuff is hard!)

3. To spend more quality time with my wife and son.

4. To be more physically active

5. To get into the Top 50 in 17S reputation points.

Only had 3 resolutions last year, and I failed on all of them....Should do better this year, though.

1. Become debt-free

2. Research my personal genealogy, taking all lines back to at least the early 1800s, and further assuming I can find the records (iffy at best, depending on the country)

3. Do something social at least once a week (church/church activities not included)

4. Start and maintain a workout schedule

5. Open a savings account and start saving for a trip to Europe (put away at least 1k for it)
