Arcanist Lupus he/him Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I recently realized how similar the name Adonalsium is to the Hebrew words "Adon Olam", which is one of the names for God in Judaism, and can be roughly translated as "Master of the Universe". Thoughts? 3
Commander Spoonface he/him Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I think only the "adon" part of the relationship is likely intentional.
king of nowhere Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 the "adon" part evokes somehing divine. However, given the huge amount of names given to god(s) in different religions and languages, it may as well be a coincidence.
Morsk he/him Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I also thought Adonai, and that the -ium ending suggests an artifact or substance rather than a person, so it's a bit of a paradox.
Inkthinker Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Soooo... I guess I'm the only one who thinks it sounds a little like a decongestant? When colds, allergies and other sinus problems get you down, Adonalsium gets you back on track! Ask your doctor if Adonalsium is right for you! Adonalsium: your solution for sinus relief! Anybody? No? ... Please don't fire me. -EDIT- Bad punctuation makes me twitchy. Edited July 21, 2012 by Inkthinker 10

Aminar Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I do believe this was intentional. Hiding things like that in stories is one of my favorite things about writing.
