TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I'm sure you did fine! Thanks! I had thirty minutes to answer six questions, and there was some time left over, so the ladies on the panel went over some of the questions I'd already answered again. At first I thought I might've given a dumb answer, but I've decided to look at it as they wanted to learn more. Not sure if that's the case, but that's how I'm choosing to see it. TwiLyghtSansSparkles banzai! Were you very nervous? Like you wouldn't believe. You? Sound like a blathering idiot? There are no words that can properly convey my doubt at that prospect, so here's a skeptical pug. He's adorable. And thanks. 3

I have time left in a test or something like that I always go over all the questions again, afterall I have the time, so why not use it? No reason to worry. Edited July 23, 2015 by Edgedancer 2
Kestrel she/her Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I agree with Edgedancer here. It just means they wanted to hear more from you, which is a good thing. 1

It just means they wanted to hear more from you, which is a good thing. I figured that if they thought I was an idiot, they would've dismissed me when I finished answering all the questions. Which means their going over the rest of those questions wasn't a bad thing at all. 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Just out of pure curiosity, what were the questions? I don't remember all of them exactly, but they were along these lines: What do you think you can bring to this library system? What interests you about working with the public? How do you think libraries will remain relevant over the next five years? What is one quality or skill you possess that sets you apart? Why do you want to work for a library? I don't remember the last one. 2
Left he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Aaaaand the date went great! Gotta love free baseball tickets and a good group. 3
Blaze1616 he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Today was a day of new things in regards to Blaze and his eating habits. I tried both ranch dressing on a sandwich, and soft croutons. The ranch on my sandwich was...odd. I've never done that before, but ranch is delicious, so I thought why not, particularly since I had no other condiment to place on the sandwich. It was good. Tasted like ranch. The soft croutons on the other hand, felt right. I was actually able to skewer them with my fork, rather than do that weird shuffle as I try to get the crouton to mount the lettuce. So yeah. That's been the high point of my day. Lunch. 2

In that case I'm pretty sure you're going to be fine as long as you didn't make any Reader based puns implying you want to hurt the people wanting to read a book. 1

Answering them like Reader, you mean? "What interests you about working with the public?" "I know all their secrets. One glance, and I know them better than their own spouses. Partners. Parents. I know everything, and I know how to use it." "How do you think libraries will remain relevant over the next five years?" puts feet on table "By hiring me. Next question." 7
Orlion Blight he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 You probably did fine, and if nothing else... you just got some real world interview practicing! 1

Help yourself to some water." * pours water until the cup overflows * "Oh dear. Do you need help with that?" "Nope, I'm fine. I always give 110%." 5

Kobold King he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Would it help you make up your mind if I told you he poured the water on top of an open book? 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Would it help you make up your mind if I told you he poured the water on top of an open book? Yep. Definitely the worst. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Yep. Definitely the worst. And that's even before he starts recommending weight loss and skin care books to all the women who walk in the door. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 And that's even before he starts recommending weight loss and skin care books to all the women who walk in the door. Just think what would happen once he hires Deathwish as his helper. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Just think what would happen once he hires Deathwish as his helper. "Hey baby. If I could rearrange the Dewey Decimal System, I'd put 'U' and 'I' together." "That's... that's not how the Dewey Decimal System works." "Why don't we talk about it over dinner?" 4
Kaymyth she/her Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Hmmm.... Reader vs. Conan the Librarian. Go. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Hmmm.... Reader vs. Conan the Librarian. Go. Reader makes snotty comment about Conan's parents, then takes a sip of wine. Conan pummels Reader into a pulp for bringing wine into the library. Reader gets fired. Conan gets promoted. 4

Kobold King he/him Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Indeed it is, Edgedancer. In other randomness... My brother came to me yesterday to tell me he'd just seen Snowdrop, a beautiful fan-made MLP video about a blind pegasus who's unsure how to help her fellow ponies with her disability handicapping her. It's a beautiful video. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make one of the worst jokes in my entire life. Apologies to everyone. 7
