Alright, who here on the Shard is any good at chess? Lately I've reactivated on chess.com and started meeting again with my chess-buddies, played a bunch of silly and embarrassing games, and started to get my game back on. So I started to wonder: Are there enough people here to start regular, round-robin correspondence games? Chess is an amazing, beautiful mix of tactics and strategy, and I'd like the chance to do it a little justice, either by crushing you people or being crushed by you people. Chess.com is good place for this kind of thing, and my username is Deathguardian97. Send me a challenge if you're feeling up to it, maybe discuss the game a bit in here. Let's see if we can't get started.

If you have a game going, and wouldn't mind people watching, kindly post a link somewhere here, and I'll add it to this post.

So far we have:

I used to be decent at it, but that was at least ten years ago, when I was playing competitively. I haven't been playing at all in the intervening years, and when I reinstalled the Chessmaster program for fun a couple of months ago, I got thoroughly curbstomped (not that I was expecting any different...)

I wouldn't mind playing but I probably wouldn't give anyone a challenge at this stage :P

Chess do be awesome, one of the more useful applications for my otherwise useless talents in remembering long lists of random stuff. :P

So, who here has an account of Chess.com already, or the e-mail associated with that account so I can send a friend request?

Posted

Yeah, it's free. They'll send you a bunch of chess-related mail to make you feel like a friendless loser, but marking it as spam gets rid of it quickly enough. Other than that, it's pretty much a ten second process.

I like feeling like a friendless loser so i'll eventually get around to making an account.

I played a bunch when I was younger, but it's been a while. I just tried a few games, and, wow, I'm rusty! I'd be up for playing more.

As I said, I am registered as Deathguardian97. I think I used my spam E-mail of [email protected] to set it up. If you go to the "invite a friend" tab and attempt to invite that E-mail, it will inform you that I'm already a member. That'll take you to my profile and let you challenge me. Anybody else who wants to be bombarded with challenges from the Shard, feel free to post your usernames here as well.

For those who want to see the game: http://www.chess.com...me?id=100623568

And if by some miracle you're on while we're both making moves, it won't auto-update. You'll have to make do by pushing F5 repeatedly while our screens show the game live, suckers.  :)

(Reposting because I somehow accidentally hid my last post. Don't ask. More or less recreated I think.)

I've sent a friend request and a challenge. If you hit up my profile, you can also find Rainspren and send a request/challenge there as well.

For some reason I can't find you. Also for friend requests I'm posting links to all current member's profile pages in the OP.

Not Quite certain how to use that Site, but I think I've sent you a friend Request and Challenged you to a Game.

Are you playing for Shards?

Game accepted, good luck and have fun. Be sure to challenge the others while you're at it.

And nobody in their right mind should want Observation. If you thought Harmony had problems taking action...
