Maybe you read about it's themes of love and tolerance and got interested. Maybe you just saw some of the thousands of pieces of fan art based on it, and you got to wondering how a kids show- a kids show for girls!- could possibly get that large an audience, particularly an adult audience.

 

So, you sit down, at your television screen or your computer, and find an episode; one of the ones everyone says is great, since if you're going to judge it, might as well give it a fair shot, right? And you watch it and... huh. Actually, that wasn't too bad. Maybe those guys have a point.

 

So you watch the next episode. Then the next. And maybe you check out some stuff people have written about it... and before you know it, you're a fan of ponies. And you realize there is no escape. There is only Pinkie Pie."

The Herd went dormant. Friendship is Magic is finished. And we have to deal with the trashy new MLP.

But that won't stop us...

I haven't watched MLP in a while, and have a complicated relationship with it, but I 100% agree it is very good.

Retrospective notes: this is ridiculously long and irrelevant so don't read it if you don't want to? (Why did I write this) (who knows)

If you're interested in the "complicated relationship" bit, I started watching it when I was 6 (and very probably autistic but no one's ever noticed that IRL and as more time passes I am just going HOW) and it became a very all-consuming special interest of mine for several years. 

Obviously, I then decided I was going to base my entire personality on one of the characters, because why wouldn't I? So for about 4 years in primary school, my entire personality was Fluttershy. This essentially boiled down to "be very quiet and don't talk to people". I made a total of two friends. 

When I left primary school, I had a huge personality shift and now most people think I'm an extrovert when they meet me (people are exhausting but hey, masking!). So while this was entirely my fault and, if anything, a result of MLP being really, really good, it did negatively affect my life for a while, so I may be slow to respond to posts on here. 

Moral of the story, I wouldn't recommend impersonating fictional characters. 

Is this oversharing? Probably yes. Did anyone ask for it? Probably no. 

But yea, MLP is cool! Fluttershy and Twilight were my favourites when I watched it

I'm never watching MLP. Ever. My friend's sisters are currently obsessed with it and it is impossibly annoying. 

I'm fine with people using clips of it, and things like that, but I'll never watch it. With the exception of people sending me death threats to watch it

and a race of evil guys who would impersonate an entire country on a regular basis

the same country that worshiped the small dragon guy

And also something happened where the main character (wings+horn) was chosen by the gods maybe?

Oh, and that one time they became ?human? and song battled the bad guys to death

What's your opinion on the songs, if you heard any?

Is this belieaving the show is childish, or just dislike?

What sort of things would you want to get out of it? (Epic, deep characters, humor, just the best possible presentation of everything, etc)
