They had no convenient target, no one who had been close to Mabel when she died, no real idea of who might have had the gun this time. All they knew if that she had tried to kill Verna, but fled before she could. They knew sometime later a shot had rung out and sometime after that her body had been found. But as for what might have happened in the interim…that they did not know. And when they found the body, the gun that had seemingly killed her was already missing. Which meant someone had it, and it could be any one of them. At last they found an easy target: Talasin, the journalist, who had been lurking at the edges of the group, never contributing much. Nobody could attest to their whereabouts at any time since Mabel’s death. Perhaps their anonymity had allowed them to take the weapon without being noticed? And so for the fourth time the mob gathered. And for the fourth time they killed one of their own. This time there was no last minute confession, no confirmation of their beliefs. But an uneasy feeling settled in the pits of their stomachs: that they had just made a horrible mistake. ———————————— @Akimikoisthecutest was executed! They were an Innocent Explorer! StrikerEZ he/him Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Okay, Mippo didn’t have the gun, so I don’t have it. That doesn’t mean Mippo can’t have it now. It one of their Akimiko voters had the gun, then it would’ve just been tossed around randomly again. And Mippo could’ve ended up with it anyway. So net zero information gain for me there.

Why wouldn't I have had it Just because you vote someone doesn't mean you'd get it Only if they're voted out as far as I know
Miss Fallen she/her Posted April 30 Posted April 30 So striker is still an option for having the gun, because it was probably a random distribution amongst all of us. Akimiko actually did have it. I vote we try the following plan again, if people are down for that

If someone did, please let us know, that helps rule mippo and striker out of having the gun. 2) if you had the gun in the day and escaped the exe, also let us know. You are ruled out of having the gun tonight, and you won't be able to get it for the next cycle either. Free clear! 3) I'm down for the following plan, it's that or look for shoes again, but I know striker and ver both claimed having items and will probably want to do other things. I don't think I have had an oppurtunity to fire it, and apparently it has passed to someone else? I asked whether I die or not and have not received a response. I am slightly confused? correction: I am an idiot. The GMs did respond and it was just on another page of the PMs. I had the gun during the day and didn't have to kill anyone. Verdance he/him Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Harley had picked up the gun from the floor where the suicide had taken place, and realized he couldn’t drop it. Some compulsion prevented him from releasing possession of the weapon. Terrified that he would be blamed for the death, he hid it in his pocket. As the day grew on, he felt a growing desire to fire the weapon. He found himself peering around a corner, aiming the gun at an unidentifiable figure down the hall, the sunset blinding him through the window and obscuring their features. But as his finger squeezed the trigger, he felt the safety catch. A final flash of light and Harley finally was able to fling the smoking gun away, sprinting in the opposite direction before whoever his near victim could catch him. He collapsed into an armchair in the library. “This whole place is cursed,” he muttered, breathless. At least he wasn’t under its control. He had to leave as soon as possible. But first, he had to clear up the last loose end in this case. The nagging feeling in the back of his mind that there was still one last secret left to uncover. 2

The library led to the kitchen last night. Tonight Verna found herself stepping from a quiet reading room smelling of old books and leather to fresh earth and damp. She reckoned she was still in the middle of the house. The graveyard was walled on all sides but open to the sky, only one other exit, littered with faded gravestones. Fitting. Verna traced the stones, looking to see if she could trace the long-faded names. She traced what could have been 'Madeline' on one. Then, suddenly, the fresh graves. Warren. Archie. Brax. Luminair. Patrick. Mabel. Even Talisin, who had perished but hours ago. No time to dig a grave or carve an epitaph. And yet here their names were, carved in stone, fresh mounds of earth. She vividly remembered giving Brax a final kiss in the Study. She'd intended to return once she'd found somewhere to keep the body, but she'd never been able to find the Study again. Evidently the house took care of it. Was this its measure of honor? Or was this the house's trophy room? She touched Mabel's gravestone. Poor, brave, Mabel. She'd proven herself the strongest out of all of them. Where Brax and Patrick had succumbed to the darkness of the house, she had stood strong and never lost herself. They had been victims. She had rejected that false strength and with her sacrifice denied the house its entertainment. Thank Heaven! the crisis -- The danger is past, And the lingering illness Is over at last -- And the fever called "Living" Is conquered at last. Verna did her best, but her poetry was of little comfort. What happened to the dead that die within the house? Do they rest? Do those who used the gun, whose souls the house had sunk hooks into, remain themselves? The graveyard had no roof. Still Verna could not see the stars. Clouds. Was the sky even real from within the house? She had explored the upstairs, and she did not remember an opening in the middle of the house where one from the ground floor could see the sky. Still. Otherwise, it was completely random distribution. I don’t know if this gets my point across, I’m honestly still confused by what I’m trying to say.
